I never thought I would like going to the gym, but The Weight Room is different. Dave and John have cultivated such a welcoming and inclusive environment. At any given time of day you will find a wide range of gym goers with nothing in common but the drive to get stronger and healthier. Everyone is welcome—whether you're young or old, a complete beginner or a seasoned bodybuilder All you have to do is show up with a desire to be better and Dave and John will help you get there. As a woman in my 40s I can honestly say I've never been as strong or as fit as I've been since joining the weight room- not even close!

I can’t say enough good things about The Weight Room. As a woman in my early 40s, I was on the hunt for a place where I could focus on building muscle and strength in a friendly, expert-led environment. Dave and John are absolute pros, with decades of knowledge, and it really shows in the personalized programs they create. They’ve pushed me to lift heavier than I ever thought possible, and I’m officially the strongest I’ve ever been (seriously, it feels amazing!). Strength training is a game-changer, especially for women as we get older. It’s not just about building muscle—it helps with everything from boosting metabolism to improving bone health. I started going to The Weight Room 1 year ago with the goal of trying to gain as much muscle and strength as possible. I was 5’10” 145lbs, very skinny build. After one year I am now 175lbs and have made really significant strength gains. The environment at TWR is awesome, really supportive employees and community. They help you stay consistent, disciplined and are always willing to help out in any way possible. I personally have a general membership and was hesitant at first about the price, but it is absolutely worth every penny. The 6 week rotation of programs is really nice, keeps things fresh and interesting and will be catered to your goals/needs. Can’t recommend this gym enough.

Dave and co. are some of the nicest people I have had the pleasure of meeting. They are always willing to take a moment out of their day to check your form or answer any questions you have. They even lent me a pair of shorts one day when I forgot! Dave is very attentive to your needs and goals when drawing up new routines. The six week routine cycle keeps the workouts fresh and motivates you to come in and try out the new exercises. I would highly recommend this gym to anyone, from a veteran gym goer to someone who is looking for guidance on where to start. This team is there to support you!

Such a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere. The coaches are personable and definitely know what they are doing. They put a lot of thought and knowledge into the individual programs and it shows. I have been going for over a year now and would never go anywhere else. I have never seen such a transformation in my body composition or physical strength. At almost 40 I can confidently say that I am in the best shape of my life thanks to Dave and The Weight Room. If you are looking for a gym definitely check them out, you will not be disappointed!

Dave, John, and Nick are all excellent trainers. This is definitely a gym for people who are dedicated to working hard and improving themselves, but it is certainly not scary or intimidating either. It’s a welcoming atmosphere that is appropriate for everyone ranging from beginners to serious and experienced trainers. Not many gyms are able to find this balance the way the Weight Room does. Highly recommend.

A small gym with good trainers and no nonsense workout equipment. Free weights, barbells, racks and benches. Had a few questions pop up and wanted to add some details: There are no reservations necessary for subscribing to a general membership. However, you can schedule semi private training sessions with a trainer that requires an evaluation with the trainer. As such, if you opt for personal training, you'll first need to schedule an evaluation, then schedule the actual training session where the trainer will create a training program to follow. For the evaluation and training sessions, you'll probably want to bring a suitable change of clothes for exercise. Training sessions and the membership have their own rates so choose the one that best suits your schedule and budget. Currently, the gym does not offer classes (large planned group sessions on a particular type of workout). In the past, there were boxing and yoga classes at the old location so there's always the possibility that classes may come back. If you are interested in classes, be sure to inquire if there are any plans to bring back classes in the future.

This is the place in Newton you go if you want to get fit and strong. The trainers are knowledgeable professionals help you develop a program to meet whatever goals you have. Just as importantly, they can help you adapt your training to work around the inevitable injuries (big or small). It is up to you to put in the work, but the folks at the Weight Room will help you along the lifetime road to strength and fitness.
