I've been going to this Y now for over a year. The community here is great. With the addition of the outdoor workout area, this gym has everything you want including pools, a sauna, and even childcare. Extra points for the free coffee on Wednesdays. The staff is friendly and the personal trainers are supportive and knowledgeable as well
Great playground and loved the swim lessons for kids!
Awesome environment and nice clean designated areas for different types of exercise (the airnasium is a really cool feature). The group exercise schedule has a lot of variety throughout the day (including some virtual classes) which is wonderful. Sauna and steam room are a great addition. I have unfortunately noticed some members not using any sort of barrier between themselves and the benches in those rooms, so more signage around sauna / steam room etiquette would be helpful. The parking can be limited on a busy day but it looks like people park on the street if the lot is full. Staff are welcoming and friendly. Overall, a great place to go!!
The sauna and steam room are consistently hot and the atmosphere is clean and friendly.
The absolute hot bomb diggity. Huge very clean welcoming staff fantastic warm pool not in their photos. There a kids pool and a grown up pool. The youth lounge is amazing. If your child is ten or older they can hang out there otherwise there’s childcare for younger kids too. The upstairs women’s locker room is five stars. Beautiful! Gorgeous sauna and lovely sauna. Not too hard on disabilities. As I have one and need accommodations. There’s an elevator electric doors and ramp. I honestly can’t believe the negative reviews here. Go see for your self. It is all that and a bag of chips. Also there is financial aid so it can be very affordable. It’s like a small city in there. It’s my happy place. The classes are also the bomb and the basketball court is lovely. And my favorite is the exercise room but I’m planning to try more classes yeah for zumba
----This review was written after 6 months of trying to get an answer and not even being acknowledged by the management .---- I have been coming here for almost 2 years. Everyone that I interact with at the reception has been nothing but lovely. I have one issue, which is the management of the pool. Every other YMCA I have ever been to at least publishes how many lanes are available for lap swim/team/lessons at any given time. Not this Y. I have emailed numerous times, talked to the reception more times than I can count and no one even acknowledged my emails or returned my calls. When I go to the pool because it says lap swim, and there is only one lane for lap swim with 6 people in it, it's frustrating. Lap swim is already extremely limited at this Y unless you go very early in the morning. The lack of communication is incredible. All I wanted to know was how many lanes are open to lap swim such that I don't go if the number is less than 3. That's it. I know I'm not alone in this request because there are many other members who complain about not being able to use the facilities after paying for it. Edit: 1 year after this comment, lap swim hours are even more limited. Unfortunately, this is the only Y in this area, excluding Holyoke. Membership is twice the price of Holyoke, but you get less than half of lap swim time. Something that should be considered, as I mentioned to people working there. Still waiting to hear from management.
oh boy this place was so great to me one weekend. The front desk twice went out of their way to accommodate me— Ive never felt more welcomed somewhere immediately! Ill be back soon. I do hope the steam room is better next time. The first time it was perfect. Ive been here twice: the first time I ended talking to someone who we
I have had a family membship here for years. No problem till now. Recently one of thier people was asked to help my 79 yr old mom feal comfortable. He did the opposite. When he was asked about it he denied and shamed my wife publicly. Now we just recieved a suspension notice for her. I am so saddened and disappointed We will be quitting as a family. All 5 of us.
Gymnastics center
Good experience for tumble and play in the gym , otherwise pretty disappointed in how pool staff treats 1 year old children yelling at them while they are in parents arms. Constant closures as well with no posting of it anywhere.
Great local gym, good people and the child care is CLUTCH
Im just going to join but I met him and he seemed very welcoming, he feels familiar
The staff are very helpful and friendly. The gym memberships seem to be a good deal, too. The facility is a bit antiquated though.
Wow so many workers at this ymca so many racist stare so much attitude not. By all staff but you could tell there are problem at this ymca and how they staff people of color to hide the facts. Wow it crazy at this ymca people dont notice what right in-front of there eyes unisex bathroom mildew rust look like inside a trailer trash trailer from 1952 for real scary small tiny both pool look like a infestation of bad management rust mildew look like havent been clean the pool wall and floor felt slimy they having money raise to build more to what a outdated gross building that need be condemned .build new building were the playard is and basketball court is then tear down the old building they know something wrong it a breading ground for viruses in that building some many worker clean clean it it gross that why they make you read waiver in the front and gross person in front should not greet people with herpes in his face there more i would say but if they dont tear down building or start building new building after reading this then you now they dont care i going to keep updating this and visit once in a while but yeah don t believe me go walk around check the pool and bathroom why is this place still open wow and that statue outside look like the devil with horn trowing a child into the air. Update this place has racist hiding in the staff the good review are bull go in person everything outdated and dirty stares you get are awful if your not white you get bad service and look this place need new management new training new staff close it down for a deep clean and repairs then rehire new staff get rid of the old juju its still feels like 1950 in there
Julie the CEO just sent me an email stating that I was suspended. She stated that staff complained about me and I was making them feel unsafe. The only 2 issues was 2 female staff walked into the locker room while i was getting dressed and they did not announce themselves. I complained about it and I stated that I being a Black man had I walked into the womans locker room I would have been arrested. A week later a female staff yelled and told me it was time to go, which switching the lights on and off. I had 3 minutes left which I told that, she yelled in and loudly and aggressively state Pack your stuff and go I came out and asked who stated that. I told her that was rude and I didnt deserve to be spoken to that way. I did not yell at her, I just let her know that it was rude and wrong. The only other issues I had was a year ago when 2 Black parents had and issues with a Y staff and the treatment of their child. They confided in me, 2 staff members were walking out the door and I asked if i could speak to them and let them know what happened and asked who should we speak too. The mother said that the lady was the one do did it. She mother expressed her feelings. Julie called me with Mark on the phone, trying to get me to tell her that the mother was Irate, and threatening, and she stated that we were threatening to her staff. In the conversation she stated that she Worked with the MOCA program and other Black men so she has no issues working with Black people. apparently she does because she didnt even call me about this issues or communicate with me. As far as I know the staff had no issues with me other than me speaking on women walking in on me while I was getting changed. I brought the issue up to Mark about a week ago Today I was suspended. Who do I go to so this is taken seriously is my question?
Very warm people, nice cool pool
The best YMCA I ve ever been to. The staff is friendly, the facility is nice, and the variety of classes is excellent.
I am a member of this place, and it is a very good place for swimming lessons, or just to enjoy with the family.
I go here primarily because of the pool. The gym is okay, but it is usually full of young kids that are horsing around/hanging out on the equipment without using it etc. Makes for a chaotic and very annoying environment. The last time I was there I was unable to use the Smith machine, or the machines near it because there was a group of 5-6 kids hanging out on it like a jungle gym. $60/month, or $12 for a day pass, to have to deal with that is absurd. Will probably be going to Northampton Fitness for everything but the pool from now on.
Im disabled, but got a great introduction the other day with my partner. Looks like a great, well run Y with lots of classes and activities! Go, Y!
im feeling sad. well accully really good queen! thanks buddy! okie dokie time to buils some muschles!
The staff are awesome their facility is meticulous the best YMCA experience Ive had thus far thank you for making me feel welcome to the community
Excellent staff, outstanding yoga and pilates classes. The only downside of my experience has been the difficulty they have had staffing lifeguards for the two pools. It s a national problem, I know, but the unpredictability has been frustrating. All in all, a very well run and valuable community resource.
Hampshire Reginal Ymca. Staffes are very friendly, very helpful. I would recommend to family, friends and others.
Well equipped and friendly place!
Swimming pool
Reasonably priced, it has everything, its super clean and the staff is friendly.
There s some great employees at this place no doubt, but whoever made the lap lane policy should probably fix it. Half the people don t show up to their appointments and the whole place is always booked up all day by the time I m able to sign up. I am essentially penalized for being an employee at a different ymca because I can t sign up for a swim appointment earlier than 3 hours before the time. I swim first thing in the morning so it s impossible to do this cuz they re closed. The forgot password option on their website is broken too so I can t do it online. It s really annoying not knowing whether or not I ll be able to swim at the Y until the day of every single week for months and months. Most of the employees could understand this and let me sign up early anyway while another seemed more interested in ratting on their coworkers that do so. Really hope they do away with this policy as I know several other members were annoyed to the point they d just show up without even making appointments
Ive enjoyed the visits, this YMCA was busy, and well lit. It has an updated & clean ladys locker room, and busy but clean well-lit lap-pool thats spacious and deep with (6?) blocks. And lifeguard helped set circle swims so Ive not had to wait long even when theyve been busier. I also liked that theres an outdoor playground so the kids can play while I swim.
Great place, smells good, not much else to add
Im canceling my membership here shortly. Horrible hours, closed at the most inconvenient of times, horrible pricing. The amount of times Ive driven here just to find out that its closed...it might as well just be closed for good. Got yelled at for deadlifting...whats the point of having free weights? Dont recommend.
Alot of great people here, but also a high turnover. Swim instructors are hit or miss, the good ones are Barbara & Sarah.
It s more for old people & the babysitting it s not what it used to. Babysitting is scheduled timed in such a way I can t make it due to work, it s not like dropping off kids anytime & should be 1hr & 1/2.
Amazing staff and amenities! Highly recommend.
I was a member for over a year and really loved the facility but was extremely frustrated over the constant pool closures. I m considering coming back and am encouraged by the new rules concerning the large pool. Now please revise the small pool rules. Often the classes are very small yet you close the whole pool for them. I request you leave a couple of lanes open for those of us who depend on that pool for our physical therapy. Management needs to do a better job being flexible and attentive. There was only one person at the front desk when there were lots of people waiting there. Hire more people!!!
Impressed with how safe it feels inside. Good choice of classes and excellent staff.
Wonderful place, very friendly staff!
Great place to workout; atmosphere and environment member-friendly. Always a smile and greeting from the Front Desk.
what can I say its the ymca! pretty good pool in fact two pools a small one for a family and kids swim and then a lot pool exercise equipment looks good I dont use it. super friendly staff some kids swimming classes with really good teachers, other classes I havent tried, an old locker room. whats not to love!
I love the Y!
This is where I went to take my swim lessons and now we bring our son. Both instructors that he has had have helped him with his confidence in the water.
No very clean, but pool water is warmer than most local pools
Love the place always great service cleans and everyone is great with kids
The Y has handled this pandemic atrociously. They continually make changes to their schedule and rules without effectively communicating (if at all) those changes to their members. They then condescendingly and aggressively inform their members they are not abiding by the rules. They have been incredibly disrespectful to their members during this already challenging time. It is very disappointing.
This place offers so much to the community in so many different ways with a lot of their departments very long run.
Great facility. Covid safe.
Best place for swimming during winter!
The Hampshire Regional YMCA is an incredible organization and amazing benefit to the Northampton Community. We are privileged to have access to such a resource - even during the COVID-19 pandemic. They are doing a great job of keeping everyone safe and opening up services with amble safety protocols in place. Go Dolphins!
It is a fun place to go it has a good gym and pool
Great place to bring kids and to exercise.
I am on the swim team here and the facilities are amazing and the coaches super supportive! Everyone here is really nice, although the pool can be a bit too warm at times. Go dolphins!
I love the YMCA. I just joined and the place is totally disabled accessible, and friendly! The pools are great and each has a life guard per pool. There are two changing rooms, downstairs and upstairs. The upstairs has a sauna and a steam room. You can get to the pool from both. There are plenty of showers. You need a small lock for the lockers. It is really clean! There is a lift if you need to go upstairs. There are about 8 personal trainers, so you have a lot of choices. Did l say friendly? I had about 10 people say hello and wish me a good day. Wow!!!
Excellent facility, many activities available fine pool for adults and children.
The pool has warm water in it.
Clean, well equipped, well used by members. My opinion: Vastly better than Greenfield YMCA.
A good YMCA gym and pool
Friendly staff, lots of class options for my little one as well as myself.
Good
Great place to change your life and be apart of a community.
My favorite place to be outside my own home the workers there are like family
Great facilities, wonderful staff!
The staff is making America great again! Love this place. My go to place for fun and exercise.
Comfortable, friendly, equal to all people and oportunities
Uhaul
Great programs but parking gets scarce
The HRY has friendly staff, a great variety of classes and equipment.
Unfriendly staff. This YMCA is very disorganized. Do not trust them with your money.
Great gym with wonderful programs for all ages. Large swimming pool. Add in dry and wet sauna and you have a perfect YMCA.
Good community place
Best gym around!
Wonderful employees and a great community centered atmosphere. It is by far the best location for extracurricular actives and physical health for the entire family.
Great place to bring the kids
Love it
I was very disappointed in my experience there. There one was front desk person in particular, Bianca, who has a very bad temper and you can tell she does not want to be there. When I contacted their membership director, Jo Bosquet, she did not seem to be concerned at all and said something to the effect of There are worse things that could happen to you.
