If you’re looking for the prettiest lighting and newest equipment, this may not be the gym for you. But if you are dedicated to lifting weights, powerlifting, strongman or just general fitness, Galaxy has everything you could need. Wayne has done or helped others do and achieve most anything you could imagine when it comes to strength sports. Exceptional old school power gym, that welcomes anyone who wants to achieve strength and fitness goals. Wayne is always available to spot or give you advice or reminisce on the golden days of powerlifting. A+
This is a great place to workout. It's a vacation workout lifesaver if you are anywhere near Lake Winnipesaukee. It is well equipped with free weights and some good plate loaded machines, pull-up and dip stations, cable crossover, dbs to 100+, and a few pieces of cardio. I was a member of the original Galaxy Gym in Medford, MA as a teenager in 1980 and now at 61 this gym has the same feel. I'm glad the owner Wayne has kept the name and spirit alive and well. Thank you, Wayne, for opening your great gym!
This place is awesome! Owner (Wayne) offers fitness and strength training tips, knows his stuff inside and out, always so friendly and welcoming, just a great place to get a great workout! I look forward to coming to this gym every summer during my visit to the Lake. Wish I could work out here all year round!
Don't be scared of lifting weights! Wayne will customize a plan for you, guide, and train you to lift correctly. Wayne is the BEST at what he does. He turns flabby bodies into rock hard bods. If you want to get serious, this is the place to go.
The absence of challenge degrades the best of us. Go to Wayne for an upgrade. I lift weights to clear my mind and test my will - not as a session toward a greater weight. However, thinking of it this way and following the detailed workout plan prepared by Wayne for me everyday, led me back to the strength I had in my 30's. He brought me back a couple decades the way the mason Mitch might add strength to an old and decrepit arch by increasing the load laid upon it until the parts are joined more firmly together. You will feel pain as the road to robustness comes with a modicum of harm but it will make you immune to many of the physical challenges associated with aging and have you living more fully. "What does not kill me, makes me stronger" - Neitzsche. Discipline may weigh pounds but regret seems to come in tons. Here, your exertions amount to something. It is the ultimate meritocracy. You will feel pain of the sort that elevates the mental state to go mind over matter. That's right, at your limits, it's not the heart or the lungs or even the legs or arms... it is the brain that is the critical organ. Your biological systems want to function and express themselves - they need this. Don't take ibuprofen to reduce inflammation (Tom) in your joints only to potentially inflame your organs. This is a place where you squeeze a year out of a few seconds in the last few reps in a set so intensely lived in the moment it provides access to the vertical element of time that is neither past nor future. The people who attend the gym strive for improvement with inspiring dedication and support one another led by coach Wayne in a way that makes weight training, heretofore a lonely endeavor, feel like being an integral part of a winning team. If you give it a month and follow Wayne's advice with full effort you'll know what in the Galaxy I'm talking about.
