Great place, Mr. Toteman is a stand up guy and the trail is perfect for a quick trail run!
I gave this trail 5 stars because I liked it but it has some ISSUES. It’s not well-marked and we lost the trail 2 or 3 times because certain sections were unclear as to where the trail led. My GPS and views of park infrastructure saved us but I highly encourage more signage and lots of within eyesight blazes. Regardless… I loved this hiking trail which circles Nonotuck Park in Easthampton. We took 2 hours and walked almost 3.5 miles. We had difficulty finding it and had to circle the park twice and finally went to the park office to get unclear directions. The closest parking seemed to be at the basketball courts. We walked 200 - 300 feet past a dip and a brook where we found a well-marked sign to the start of the trail on the east side of the road that I’d driven by at least twice. The trail drops from the road and follows the brook which feeds into Nashawannuck Pond. It’s a moderate trail with ups and downs and clear (AT FIRST) to follow. It follows the a path bordering the lake. I’d say about 1 mile. After we left the lake, we followed the exit (?) water from the Pond for about another 1/4 mile. Then, the trail left the water and headed into dry land. Lots more trees and leaves and confusion under those trees. We past first one water supply house in the SE(?) corner and then a second as we walked the SW (?) corner of the park by the soccer complex. The trail turned to the north but we incorrectly headed to a farm bordering its SW corner and finally backtracked to the SW(?) water supply house until two try’s later we followed a rather wide dirt road to get back to the end of the loop. The final approach to the beginning of the trail was nice with some bridges and human structures. We heard kids playing at a school. I was surprised when we actually returned to the starting sign. Luck - I guess. Please mark the actual trail better.
