I found the school to be welcoming, professional, friendly and student-focused. Classes are kept small and individual attention is paid even in a group setting. Randy maintains a focus on each student, providing insight, coaching and encouragement. Highly recommended.

I think we can all agree that it's been a tough year+ with a pandemic taking a toll on everyone. Small businesses have been hit extremely hard; some having to change their business model overnight. RBMB was no different. However, instead of trying to fight against the change, Randy put in the work to adapt and evolve. I've been studying with Randy, on and off, for years. I was a student when he owned Plum Blossom, I've trained with him at RBMB in Acton, and I've also seen the changes made during the pandemic to help keep his students engaged and training. The new and improved website is incredible. It's extremely easy to use, and the courses listed are top notch. Not only is everything condensed into one page (per course), but there are tutorial videos embedded in the course with concurrent workouts included. It's everything you need to train what you're looking for. There is no need to create multiple tabs, or log into youtube to find a video. Everything is right in front of you. It's straight forward and guides you through how to train starting from the very basics. As a bonus, if you're a member, you get access to the member community forum where you can ask questions, discuss topics like nutrition, or even goof around with your peers. The level of active engagement in everyone's personal journey from the staff is unrivaled. Having been a student of Randy's for some time now, I believe that the biggest success of RBMB is the overwhelming sense of community. Your peers become your friends. Everyone is willing to help everyone else. There is no ego. No one looks down on your because you're a lower level, or because you're new. In fact, you're welcomed with open arms, and genuine excitement. You will not be put down for inexperience, or for asking questions. Randy does a fantastic job of hearing everyone and taking the time to address each one of his students' questions or concerns. This also extends to Randy's staff too. I've personally worked with Holly and Thomas. Not only are both amazing teachers, but they are genuinely good people who actively work to help you on your personal goals. If you're looking to start your martial arts journey, or even continue after a long hiatus, you cannot go wrong at RBMB. You won't regret it.

My two children have joined Randy’s class. My older 9YO does the Jiujitsu class and the Mantis Boxing class. My 5YO has joined the Jiujitsu class. Feel so lucky to have found this gym. Couple of things: 1. My kiddos love the instruction. Randy is an excellent teacher and LOVES what he does. 2. There are no time outs for the children. They are talked with like an adult, which is a big plus in my book. 3. Tom is an awesome coach. He and Randy create the perfect balance in a class with children. 4. The ratio of 4/1 teacher is something not found in regular children’s classes. My kids received individualized training and that is great because they have wiggly butts. 5. The atmosphere is that of respect and mutual collaboration towards your peers. 6. Piece of mind as a mother because my kids are in a safe environment. Keep doing the amazing job you are doing! And THANK YOU for teaching our kids not only this art but teaching them how to be kind, respectful, and good human beings.

My kid has been going to KIDS Ground Class since May. Coach Tom is a patient, fun, and a very good fit with my son. Randy Brown is just amazing. He is such a good role model for children. Always being respectful but firm. My son recently started attending their new KIDS Boxing class and it is one of my son’s favorite activities. The classes are small so the children receive excellent instruction. The facilities are clean and the staff is excellent. Cannot recommend enough. Feel truly lucky to have found Mantis Boxing.

Randy Brown Mantis Boxing is an amazing martial arts studio. The instruction is top notch, the space is clean and the people who attend classes are great. I've been to a number of schools over the years and this is by far one of my favorite martial arts schools in New England.

I have only taken kickboxing classes here, but I absolutely love this little dojo. Randy really cares about his students and goes to great lengths to give each individual the attention and motivation they need to succeed. Randy, Holly, and all of the folks who come to classes are friendly, welcoming, and supportive - this is a really fun place to work your ass off and get into great shape without fear of judgement or ridicule. I started out a few months ago with no experience and no real athletic ability to speak of and have progressed faster than I ever thought possible!

As an older student with no prior martial arts experience I was quite apprehensive about my first undertaking in martial arts. When I first contacted the school Master Brown spent quite a bit of time with me on the phone to understand my athletic background and goals. He clearly articulated his training philosophy and how he ran his school. In short he made feel much more at ease with taking that first step of showing up at the school and taking a class. Needless to say I enjoyed my first class and have not looked back. As a long time athlete who has been fortunate to have been coached by a number of top instructors in a variety of different athlete pursuits, I can recognize a good coach vs. an inferior one. Master Brown is a very gifted athlete who has been successful not only in several disciplines of martial arts, but who has completed at the very highest levels in other sports as well. He combines his athletic background with a solid understanding of exercise physiology and nutrition and is able to pass that knowledge onto his students. Master Brown is a dedicated teacher who goes to great lengths towards understanding different teaching mythologies and how best to apply them to the individual student whether that student is a teenager or septuagenarian. Master Brown’s efforts give each student the best chance of being successful in his or her chosen pursuit. Whether you have been on the fence about learning a martial art or you are already an accomplished martial artist Nor’easter Martial Arts is the school for you.

After being around various martial arts for close to 25 years, Plum Blossom has one of the best training curriculums I have attended. The focus on basics in the class structure ensures that you have a strong base to work as well as reinforces those basics as you progress in rank. Shifu Brown's dedication to quality, self improvement and self discipline ensures that you are not just being handed a rank but are going to earn it. Whether you are a serious martial artist or just looking to improve you mental and physical fitness, Plum Blossom Academy is definitely worth attending.
