At Dealtry Pool, where the waters gleam, Cleanliness reigns, like a summer dream. Nestled close to the river's flow, Charles whispers softly as you swim and glow. Lush trees sway in gentle breeze, A perfect spot to find some ease. Four stars shine bright, a gleaming cue, For this Watertown gem, where skies are blue. Though not a five, it’s near the mark, A lovely place from dawn 'til dark. So dive right in, and let the day, Float away in this pool by the bay.
This pool is fun for an hr life guards are rude sometimes and they don’t let you do anything beside float in the water. Certain goggles are not allowed. You’re not allowed to play catch or have your little brother on your shoulders when he can’t swim.
Open for the 2024 Season as of June 23. Basic, free, hidden down among the trees by the side of the Charles River. On a Monday afternoon, it was active but not crowded. Coming from the mid-west, where all the public pools are “pay to enter” and most have been renovated within the last twenty years with waterslides, lazy rivers, &c, it was definitely a culture shift. Expect ‘Spartan’ and you won’t be disappointed. On the other hand, I agree with the other reviewer who wrote that this pool is a neighborhood treasure. I’ll be interested to see how my perspective on this place changes after multiple visits.
This was a very peaceful and pleasant place, especially for families with children, but in the last 2 years the administration abandoned the necessary precautions for good coexistence, allowing very loud music with lyrics in Portuguese that advocate drugs, crime and pornography in addition to play football in the pool area. I don't recommend it for families with children and teenagers.
One of the nicest public pools I’ve been in changing room, a little too moist for my leggings ring water shoes pool is very clean. Lifeguards are very attentive only three picnic tables under shade to share wish they had a couple more small grass area. Was able to grab a spot at a table very ice cream shack showed up every hour clockwise you are allowed snacks and lunch for kiddos closes at 6:30. Also has break times to clean the pool. Water was crystal clear and refreshing lifeguards did a very good job and maintaining integrity keeping pool clean, making sure no rough play no running and any pool rules that would go with a public pool service. Great job my kids had fun.
This is a little slice of community paradise sitting right next to the Charles. The pool is very large, very clean and very free. There is an army of lifeguards watching over the pandamonium. There is lots of shade and you can bring chairs which a lot of pools won't allow you to do. They have very large lockerooms/restrooms. For reasons I can't explain (or don't want to think about!), this pool is always lukewarm. I can't imagine it's heated given it's limited season and it's size. I've been here many times and the water has never been cold. Pro tips: - The parking situation is anxiety inducing - maybe 20 spots or so and typically full - def great if you can walk or bike here - They have regular 15 min water checks where everyone has to get out of the pool. I posted the schedule - The pool opens very late in the season and closes very early, so always check the website before coming - Try to come as early as possible because it gets super crowded a d hectic in the afternoon - There is a little shaded park on the side with seats/tables and a splash fountain for the kids.
I’ve been coming here since 2013. I’ve made lots of acquaintances here, and caught up with old friends as well! Since Covid, it changed that, and I’ve came back for the first time in two years. We always have a good time cooling off and getting sun. Expect to get splashed, there are a lot of kids that frequent here, especially camps. They do hourly pool checks, which I do find necessary. In that time we take a break and have a snack or go to the bathroom. There’s plenty of space to change. It would be nice if there was effort to keep up cleaning and maintenance, I do love the design and structure, but time has it wearing. Management is always cautious yet friendly.
This summer we were able to utilize the pool more than in the past. They had a new manager that took a lot of abuse, but did his job well. The excessive lines were due to inadequate guard to guest ratios on those days and the heat made for angry people. We love this pool, but it could be cleaned more thoroughly and remain open a bit later in the month. Hope to see Andre back next summer.
