I’ve had a fantastic experience with PilatesRX for general physical therapy and prenatal /pelvic floor PT. At about 16 weeks pregnant I experienced pelvic girdle pain and pain at the pubic symphysis. Wanting to stay active throughout my pregnancy, I returned to PilatesRX for help. Christina was fantastic in quickly identifying the source of the issue and giving me immediate actions to start and stop to prevent worsening of the pain. With weekly PT sessions and the suggested small modifications to my regular walking, Pilates and strength training sessions, I was able to stay super active and strong until I delivered! I also had a super smooth labor and delivery, to which I credit the push prep from PilatesRX in combo with spinning babies and the high level of strength and activity I was able to maintain.
As a sports medicine doctor I can appreciate the value of high quality care. The Pilates Rx team has served as an incredible resource for the patients of our practice and has elevated my own fitness level as well! This is more than Pilates...
I started the For The Moms program at 21 weeks pregnant and couldn't be happier! I see both Jess and Christina, and they couldn't be kinder and more supportive. The program has helped me not only get movement in that is safe for me and baby, but it really does help easy some physical pregnancy discomfort and prepare you for both labor and postpartum. I highly recommend this program!
A great combination of PT and classic pilates instruction! Has been very helpful with feeling good throughout my second pregnancy.
Jess at Pilates Rx was hugely helpful for my post partum recovery! She made getting back into movement and rebuilding strength feel easy and accessible with a program tailored for my specific needs. The home program supported the For the Moms in person lessons and I have seen a huge change in myself since starting!
Beautiful space with super experienced, professional, and compassionate staff. I went for weekly sessions in the For The Moms program with Christina Seng and Dr. Allie Duffy during pregnancy starting in 2nd trimester (and planning to continue through 4th trimester). The program is a powerful blend of 1:1 prenatal care, physical therapy, fitness, and education. Each session has been custom tailored to how I’m feeling and what stage of pregnancy I’m in. When I first started the program, I was feeling lots of pain in my pelvic floor, lower back, and pubic symphysis that made it hard to go on walks or enjoy life. Christina was able to diagnose the specific source of the pain in my pelvic floor muscles right away, which were creating instability that extended to my lower back, and we worked on physical therapy and breathing exercises that made me feel significantly better and be able to enjoy a summer's worth of long city walks, swims, and other physical activity. Once I was pain-free, we focused on fitness through a wide variety of pregnancy-appropriate pilates exercises on and off the reformer that stretched and relaxed my body and felt heavenly! Christina also led helpful sessions on push prep, postural prep for breastfeeding, and more, which I really appreciate because while I enjoy learning from Youtube/books, it’s another thing entirely to go through embodied exercises with an experienced educator. In addition to the professionalism of the team, the physical space is welcoming, airy, and bright. There’s delicious kombucha and cold brew on tap and the vibes are immaculate. I would highly recommend the For The Moms program for those looking to relieve the pains and discomforts of pregnancy, or those who simply want to stay active and moving during pregnancy. I’d be excited to check out the other Rx programs in the future as well!
The For the Moms program has been amazing!! I would recommend this to anyone who is pregnant or newly postpartum. I first went to The Pilates Rx after I had my first child. They helped me recover from a challenging delivery. I went back again when I had my second child, but this time I did the program leading up to delivery as well as postpartum. The FTM program is personalized, so we focused on the specific things that were bothering me. In the 3rd trimester I had lower back pain, and Jess was able to help resolve it completely, and helped fix my posture that was causing the pain in the first place. I had carpal tunnel in my hands and bad swelling in my feet with my first pregnancy but didn’t have either of those in the second pregnancy, and think FTM played a big role in that. I worked with Christina to do a push prep and went into my second delivery feeling so much more prepared than I had been with the first. My delivery went much smoother with my second and he was even a much bigger baby than my first. Postpartum, I almost immediately felt better from a recovery standpoint. No lingering back pain, no pelvic pain, really no pain other than the normal healing after birth. I’ve been working with Christina and after just a few sessions, I’m back walk/running and on a path to get back to normal workouts in a safe way. This is truly a great program and I am so happy I found the Pilates Rx!
I was recommended to go to the PilatesRx for their For the Moms program. I started going in my second trimester and continued into my fourth trimester. It was one of the top three decisions I made for my health during my pregnancy. I liked how it was a "one stop shop" and I could interchangeably see physical therapists to address any physical discomforts in my back and hips and pelvic floor therapists to prepare for labor. I was also pleasantly surprised how the program helped to keep me moving all the way up until my delivery. Without their support, I think I would have stopped exercising a lot earlier on in the pregnancy for lack of knowledge on how to safely and comfortably move. I am so grateful that this program exists for all the pregnant mamas!
