Jenna has been instrumental in enhancing my balance, coordination, strength, and overall confidence in the gym. I am incredibly grateful for her coaching over the years. From our very first session, it was evident that her expertise and dedication to client success are unmatched. She tailors each workout to my specific needs and goals, ensuring I feel both challenged and supported. Jenna gives the same level of attention and feedback to her remote clients as she does to those she sees in person, and I've been fortunate to experience both. Most importantly, Jenna has transformed my mindset as an adaptive athlete with Cerebral Palsy. I now approach workouts with renewed confidence, enthusiasm, and improved ability to advocate for myself and my needs at my CrossFit gym. Instead of trying to conform to CrossFit's traditional standards of fitness, I have learned to embrace my unique movements and the modifications they require. Thanks to Jenna, I am now doing box jumps, burpees, and deadlifts from the floor and much more —experiences I once thought were out of reach. She has opened my eyes to new possibilities, helping me break free from the limitations imposed by my disability. If you’re seeking a knowledgeable and encouraging coach who genuinely cares about your progress, I wholeheartedly recommend working with Jenna. She will change your life. Thank you, Jenna, for helping me become a stronger and more confident version of myself!
I met Jenna in the midst of a very difficult time in my recovery journey. I felt hopeless. After experiencing two different major cardiovascular events impacting my nervous system, most of my doctors couldn't agree what kind of activity I could do that would be "safe" for my body. I was miserable. I was a former marathon runner and love endurance sports. I needed to exercise to feel most like myself. My mental health was plummeting. Jenna was a ray of light in the darkness. I suddenly had access to a fitness professional who understood that stroke and neuro injury recovery are not bound by traditional PT or OT. She immediately had ways for me to start small. Over the course of April - September, we incrementally built up my strength and endurance. It wasn't major things but every single week, there was a small gain. By the time we reached the fall, I was able to do what I love most: continuously run for a 3+ miles!! Jenna is an AMAZING resource for anyone looking for more. She helped me reclaim my body and be functional again. I lived on egg shells before. I was so scared of having a third event. I don't feel scared anymore. I have gained an understanding of how to be functionally fit, not angry with my body. I have understood that adaptive fitness is about modifying exercise to meet your body where it is. It's amazing. I've never been happier! Jenna has taught me skills for life. No matter where I go in the world, I am so excited to be part of the FtF family and have this community rooting for me every step of the way.
Where do I start my journey with Jenna? I think it was about three years ago I saw Jenna on Instagram. I knew Jenna was exceptional when I saw what she was doing with the disabled people. They were doing CrossFit! Let me give you a little backstory about myself. I'm 57 years old, and I was born with cerebral palsy. For most of my life, I went to physical therapy, always doing the same thing with the same results. Also, I have workout most of my life in a bodybuilding role. I always want to do CrossFit!! So I live in CT, and it's a 2 hour 30 minute drive to Boston. It was indeed the best ride of my life. I told Jenna I always wanted to deadlift. You knew what she said, so let's deadlift it! Guess what? I deadlifted!! Jenna, I want to do the CrossFit assault bike workout. Jenna strapped my feet to the pads, and I loved every minute of it. Jenna has a true gift to help you overcome your disability mindset. Every time I go to Boston, I have more conferences in myself. I feel like I can overcome anything in life. How can you put a price on something like that? I can't believe how much my life has changed in 3 years. I call Jenna my Angle Of Pain with love. With Love Sam
Fit to Function isn’t just a “gym” it’s a family. Jenna is amazing at what she does for this community. Any BODY is welcome and no matter where you are at, physically, Jenna meets you there. My recovery has been a long one, but being able to workout and become stronger in a safe manner, is a blessing.
I have had the pleasure of working with Jenna on and off over the past few months, and the experience has been very positive. When we first began, I was struggling to make it to the gym even once a week, but now I am now consistently working out 3-4 times a week. She tracks my goals, and her recent programming has been tailored specifically to enhance my strength for horseback riding. I recently completed my first adaptive riding lesson, managing to get on and off the horse with only minor assistance! Jenna is also exceptionally considerate of disabilities, encouraging open communication and feedback to ensure I am continually challenged in a safe and effective manner. Her dedication and personalized approach have made a significant difference in my fitness journey. I wholeheartedly recommend Jenna to anyone looking to achieve their goals with a supportive and professional trainer
I have worked with Jenna for over two years with remote programming (as I’m based in the UK). I originally worked with Jenna for competitive adaptive CrossFit programming but now work with her to keep challenging my fitness whilst working around/with neurological issues. Her programming is challenging in all the right ways, and serves to prove that you are always capable of more than you think. She also has a unique ability to workshop neuro issues, constantly thinking outside of the box for solutions and not taking no for answer!
I have POTS and EDS and have struggled to be able to manage keeping my strength up to keep my joints and my heart haelthy and safe. I've never succeeded in the traditonal "gym class" setting, as I always ended up in pain and discouraged. Working with Jenna and Sara, I've never felt more supported snd successful! Not only have they been able to adpat workouts that fit my changing needs for every session, they've been able to succesfully help me alter my mindset from "I can't do this, I give up" to "I can make alterations, I can keep going, I can still succeed". I also have a service dog who helps me with my daily tasks, and Fit to Fuction has welcome him with open arms. And he loves going to their gym. I'm so happy I've found this team. They've added so much value to my life and I would highly reccomend training with the Fit to Function team!
