amazing staff and a very spacious gym. The only thing is that the lockers and bathroom need more attention.
TERRIBLE. So many machines are broken. The equipment in the "special rooms" that only tier 3 members have access to- BROKEN. Why am I paying more money to have access to more rooms but the equipment in the rooms are broken??? The gym is very dirty. I don't think I've ever seen a staff member wiping down anything in my year that I've been a member. The manager Phil- a joke. He gives you the run around and says he has "one person who I trust fixing all the machines, and each machine takes about 40 minutes to fix so its going to take some time". I am currently looking for another gym so I can cancel my membership. I go to the LEVEL in Yorktown and it is the complete opposite- nice & clean, with working equipment. Theres no reason why the Pelham location is in shambles. DO NOT join this gym.
I’ve been a regular at this gym, coming in multiple times a week for almost a year, but my recent experience with the manager, Phil, was disappointing. After checking in, I stepped out briefly to grab my AirPods from my car. When I re-entered, Phil stopped me in an unnecessarily rude and confrontational way, as if I were trying to sneak in. Instead of addressing the situation with professionalism, he embarrassed me in front of others and made no effort to apologize. This kind of treatment is unacceptable, especially from management. A simple, polite clarification would have been enough. If customer service and respect matter to you, I’d reconsider supporting this gym.
Left 24hour fitness because of customer service and came here to experience even worse customer service. They try to upsell you the moment you walk in which wasted my workout time. My first time there I was only offered a tour if I was going to upgrade. Walked around like a lost puppy for the first few minutes lol. Asked where the sauna was and the front desk explained where it was instead of showing me. The locker room was dingy looking and feeling. Barely anything to wipe the machines down. Just an overall bad first time. Hopefully next time will be better and worth it.
DO NOT join this gym. Best thing I did was cancel my membership and not give them a dollar more. Not dealing with the disgust and disrespect of management. I’ve complained multiple times but the manager, Phil does not do his job and disregards member concerns. The unsanitary conditions are out of control. Dept. of Health should shut this place down. There’s mold on both floors, centipedes crawling around on turf, holes everywhere, lockers broken, floors are always soaked- injury claim, lack of sanitary stations, broken machines, lack of equipment. The sauna is disgusting - nails and wires also exposed. Do not join this gym. It’s a rip off and very unsafe and unsanitary. Comes down to management not doing their job. Phil should be fired.
The best part is I don’t remember ever having to wait to use a machine, and that’s why I’m still here. The facility is poorly maintained. There are pieces of the flooring that are missing, the ceiling is often leaking or missing sections. About 5 of the treadmills are consistently not working or malfunctioning. The floor boards in the middle of the top floor are a complete safety hazard. I can’t speak for the men’s locker room but many of the lockers in the women’s locker room NEVER work. It’s been this way for at least over a year. There aren’t any towels or napkins/paper towels to dry your hands in the bathroom, just Kleenex. I guess thats better for the environment…..I guess. The maintenance staff is really nice but the locker room always looks and feels dirty, from the mirrors to the walls, it’s just bad. I do appreciate that there are almost always adequate wipes to clean the machines before and after use. All in all I’ve had these complaints for a while and for the price it doesn’t seem worth it. But like I said, I don’t usually have to wait for machines and I can’t say the same for most of the other gyms in the area.
I recently joined Level Fitness (Pelham) and, overall, have been satisfied with my experience. The gym provides all the basic equipment you would expect for a well-rounded workout, though it comes at a higher price point compared to other local fitness options. The facilities are clean, modern, and well-maintained, creating a more premium atmosphere, which is nice, but the value can vary depending on your fitness needs. One thing to keep in mind is that some amenities are reserved for the highest-tier membership. Certain specialized spaces and equipment are only available to those with upgraded memberships, which could be a drawback if you have a standard membership and expect full access. The basketball court is another key feature. While it is generally open during set hours, it is often reserved for leagues or events. Additionally, no matter which level of membership you obtain, you’re not allowed to bring a friend onto the basketball court although your membership allows you to. Lastly it is mostly available for casual use, it’s unavailable during peak times or when special events are scheduled. A new addition to the gym is the pickleball court, which is a great option for those looking to try something new. However, it's not included in any membership tier. Members can rent the court on an hourly basis, with a discount provided for those with a membership. In conclusion, Level Fitness (Pelham) is a solid choice for anyone seeking a clean, well-equipped gym with a more premium environment. Just be aware that certain amenities and spaces are restricted based on membership tiers. If you value additional flexibility and access to specialized features, upgrading to a higher membership might be a good option. (See the attached for the basketball court restrictions)
It’s a love and hate relationship here. At $89 a month, I wish the cleaning was better. There’s a hand print on the mirror for weeks. When leading up to the bathrooms the floors looks like they need to be scrubbed. One time I guess they used an old mop and the gym just smelled like mildew. I wouldn’t take a shower there tbh but that’s just me. The gym is never too busy or crowded waiting for a machine etc. The instructors and classes are great!
