John Power is an excellent "healer." He is part PT, part OT, part sports therapist, and very much a movement and mobility therapist. I had diagnosed bursitis in my hip for 3 years, and one step away from my second cortisone shot when I saw John. In three sessions, he gave me various exercises to strengthen and stretch the hip, low back and glutes, and my "bursitis" (which he felt was primarily weakness and immobility-based) disappeared. Yes, I keep up with my exercises, but his advice and counsel was priceless. I haven't walked this well in years.
I am so thankful as a 76 year old woman that I found John power to help me with my balance and mobility issues. He is knowledgeable, patient and kind. You will not be disappointed!
John is extremely gifted and effective at this work and has helped so many people I know to come back from sports injury, including me and my partner, multiple times over the years. To us, he is sort of like a combination of a coach/ physical therapist/ magician/ genius. The exercises he fits to your problem are challenging but effective longterm, and he is holistic and creative with each presenting problem. He doesn’t make you feel bad or embarrassed about your physical issues, whatever they might be. You can’t help but leave the session feeling hopeful and more empowered. We recommend him to everyone we know!
This was only my first meeting with John but in that time I felt respected and understood. He met me where I am at. I feel hopeful that I will get stronger and more confident in my abilities despite my many medical issues and injuries. He is compassionate and grounding. I came back home with more knowledge to help myself already.
John has been patient, encouraging and challenging - a great combo for getting my health back on track. Originally went to John for a persistent ankle injury and quickly found myself tackling strength and mobility - all areas that I needed to focus on. I'm really grateful to John for his skill, knowledge and empowering approach to incorporating health and fitness into my daily routine.
John's approach is straightforward, logical, positive - and exactly what I needed. Really helped with some intense lower back pain that was debilitating. He focused on correcting everyday habits, and then moved into beneficial exercises and stretches. He is super positive and a great teacher. Highly recommend.
I have been working with John for about six years, both on improving fitness and recovering from injuries (mostly shoulder but also knee and back). When I started this journey I was struggling physically and emotionally, and really needed both a plan and support. He understands the mind-body connection and is willing to discuss the whole package-exercise, nutrition, sleep, and self-care. His approach is very pragmatic. For example, I had struggled with hamstring pain for months until he evaluated the way I was walking, and the fix was fairly straightforward. I also appreciate John for taking a positive “can-do” approach and he very effectively puts the brakes on my tendency to be self-critical. I could write an essay on all the things I like about John, but I would have to say that one of his greatest strengths is his ability to motivate me to take better care of myself in all respects.
John is great! He worked me through a very painful but successful shoulder treatment. I can now play golf pain free. He knows his stuff, follows up, provides simple and effective home exercises, and tells you what he is doing the whole time. One of the best PT/Massage persons I have ever experienced.
Wow - wonderful working with John! Super helpful with recovering from my knee injury and so encouraging.
I recommend John to anyone suffering from joint pain or weakness. In the few months that Ive worked with John, his targeted exercises have greatly reduced my shoulder pain and begun to restore strength.
