Located in Northampton's historic Union Station, The Tunnel Bar is a nationally recognized, speakeasy style martini lounge, known for its unique underground train tunnel, extensive selection of award-winning martinis, hand crafted cocktails, and fine libations. Built in 1897, travelers once used the tunnel to board trains at Union Station for far-off destinations and adventures abroad. Today, the tunnel is home to purveyors of fine beverages and unique atmosphere, but all original stone and brickwork circa 1897, remains. Please sit back, relax, - and experience a little piece of history.
The pork was yummy, blackberry martini yummy and the fried pickles great. Next time I'm getting the peanut butter chocolate dessert or banana foster and the monkey drink.
The Tunnel Bar!!! I have so many memories with friends and family at this spot. First off- you are in an old train tunnel made of stone and they have large leather chairs to sit, so fun! Their drinks are delicious and you are located right downtown in Northampton, MA. They added small bites over Covid when food was required. This is a must stop if you are in the area for any of the five colleges or sight seeing in beautiful western ma! This post was made in connection with a Toast promotion.
Absolutely amazing drinks. You'd better make sure you got enough in your wallet cause it's not cheap. I was up over $200 in an hour and a 1/2. If you can get over the liberal environment It's a great place.
We had the best bartender ever! I'd love to review the food, but we only had drinks. The drinks were absolutely outstanding, from presentation to delivery! He was entertaining and knowledgeable and accommodating too! Love, love, loved it!!!!!
Beautiful atmosphere, went there with a couple friends and had a wonderful time. All the bartenders were super nice, very good service. The drinks were amazing we kept getting new stuff to try out and loved every single one. Keep in mind that it gets very busy later in the night and it’s very hard to find seating.
We wondered into this bar on a Thursday evening and I was impressed by the ambiance. It’s perfect for small groups or dates with cushy close seating in a dimly lit environment with a tunnel/train feeling. The only reason that I can’t give this 5 stars is because I tried the Treehouse martini and it was not great. I asked for the ingredients to try separately and I think the gin (from Treehouse) is excellent but the sheer number of ingredients in this drink made it almost undrinkable. I’m looking at you, key lime aperitivo. Either way, our bartender Bryan was Amazing! And I look forward to coming back.
Really unique place! It gets crowded on a Friday night, and it’s a skinny building, so it gets very congested down the one walkway, but def a cute vibe. Fun idea!
At over 900 reviews, what is one more? Well here is goes. Was on a girls trip to New England and had just finished getting back from Portland, ME when my husband sends me a tiktok about some interesting bar we need to visit on the trip to Massachusetts. It's 20 mins from our last planned location, so why not. Turns out, it was a good idea. This place is filled with enough history to write its own book. From a pedestrian walk to a prohibition bar to a body locker from a massive war to a cigar lounge to a restaurant, this place has seen it all. Pizza was great. Drinks were great. Charcuterie board left a lot to be desired with 3 pieces of bread, some interesting cheeses, a few meats that were ok and olives. Was not expecting that. I was hoping for a level up from a lunchable, perhaps my tastes are not refined. Just know what you're getting into should you order it. Can't complain. It was a lovely place with lovely people and a lovely atmosphere and they answered all of my questions about this unique place. Recommend.
