Peter is the best. I've been working with him for about nine months. He is very knowledgeable about biomechanics and has helped me gain strength, balance and fitness despite a number of injuries that had been keeping me on the couch for years. He has an uncanny sense of how to build strength in little-used muscles in order to offload injured tendons, joints, and muscles. He can work well with clients of all ages and abilities. The group sessions are fun and have already made a huge difference in my life. I could not recommend him more highly.

I have been seeing Peter for 10 months and he is excellent. I have a history of back issues and he focuses on making sure my form correct at all times. He pays attention to detail and makes sure that each workout is different but effective. I have enjoyed my time with Peter and plan to continue to work with him for the long term.

A Cut Above Peter Helmes of Vigor Transformations is a gem. Whether you’re an athlete training to repair an injury or an octogenarian who’s never stepped into a gym (or someone in between like me), Peter meets you where you’re at and works with you at a pace that will improve your conditioning, flexibility, and core strength. Over the years at various gyms, I have had three trainers. I believe that working with a trainer is the safest and most reliable way to make progress. I have been blessed by each of the trainers I’ve worked with. But Peter’s knowledge of the human body, particularly the interconnections of the muscular system, make him a standout. Perhaps due to his former training as a masseuse, he has shown me how to work through or around any strain or ache. He knows how to tweak an exercise for maximum effect, and he recognizes when I’m not working an exercise properly. For above all, with Peter, form matters . . . NOT the number of reps or the heft of the weight. If you are doing the exercise without proper form, you’re risking injury at worst, or at best wasting your time. These are the main reasons to work with a trainer: to gain strength and to avoid injury. If you’re in the market for a trainer who will meet you where you’re at and safely help you reach your goals, look no further.

I highly recommend Peter as a personal trainer. I have been with him for may years and he has worked with me on getting my body to where I wanted it to be. I have never been one to participate in sports or know anything about weight lifting. He has taught me how to properly work specific areas of my body. He is someone who always makes sure you are doing the exercises correctly. He makes you feel comfortable, explains things fully and is easy to work with. I high recommend Peter to anyone who is looking for a fantastic trainer!

Peter is a great great trainer who really understands body mechanics and who constantly keeps working on learning and improving at his craft. His approach to every client seems to be highly individualized. He has taught me how to correctly perform a lot of different movements while explaining what exactly happens in your body when you do them, which really ends up making a noticeable difference in terms of injuries and strength. Out of the several trainers I've met over the years Peter is by far the best.

I’ve been training with Peter for a year now, and highly recommend him – it’s been a wonderful year and he really has changed my life. I’ve lost weight, gained energy and happiness, and now do everything better and stronger. Peter is highly skilled; he makes sure I exercise correctly and effectively (which I know I would not do on my own), and has kept me injury free, so that I can fully enjoy life. In the small groups, where the people are very nice normal and friendly, he still gives each person a lot of individual attention. His approach is thoughtful and methodical (but he also varies things to keep it interesting and adds fun things like martial arts, outdoor boot camp, punching/kicking, competitions), to improve strength, range of motion, and flexibility so that I’ll have good functionality into later years (OK yes I’m middle aged). Peter is a responsible, respectful, and thoughtful person, and I have only had good experiences with him.

I am happy to tell you that I have been training with Peter, the owner of Vigor Transformations, since sometime in the fall of 2010 (if my memory serves me correctly). His analysis of my specific needs has been accurate while taking into consideration the fact that I have an injury which caused significant weakness and ongoing pain in my right ankle. Since working with Peter, I have received many compliments about the changes in my appearance. Not only can others see the difference - I FEEL the difference. Additionally, since he pushes me to new limits, my overall physical strength and endurance has greatly improved. Peter’s easygoing nature makes him a pleasure to work with but it is his extensive knowledge of training, diet, body mechanics, psychology and physiology that makes his sessions so different. In the time I have been working with him, I have finally experienced the kind of success that makes me believe – “yeah this is why I do this”. He changes my workout by introducing new routines that keeps me from getting bored and my muscles from not responding. His comprehensive approach which may include stretching, yoga, balance, core work and cardio as well as weight training, challenges me to move beyond what I “think” I can do to what I “can” do. Peter is truly on my team and he motivates me to keep coming back. And there is nothing more motivating than success. Thanks Peter! Oh and by the way, I went from a size 14 to a size 2 - OH YEAH that works for me!!!

I have trained with Peter for 3 or so years. He is very knowledgeable and the small groups are very friendly. I am a senior citizen and have just had double knee replacement surgery (ouch!). My Physical Therapist tells me that my leg muscles are in great shape and that's why I'm progressing with rehab so well - all thanks to Peter!
