Entering the Pilates reformer studio where Shane teaches is like stepping into a serene torture chamber designed by a sadistic yoga guru with impeccable taste. The ambiance is calm, the lighting soft, and the machines look harmless—until Shane enters the scene. With the poise of a swan and the heart of a gladiator, Shane greets you warmly, lulling you into a false sense of security. “It’s just Pilates,” you think. Oh, sweet child. Class begins innocuously enough. “Engage your core,” Shane chirps, his voice an enchanting melody of encouragement. But within minutes, you realize this is no ordinary Pilates session. This is Shane’s Reformer Bootcamp for the Brave and Questionably Sane. Your legs shake like a caffeinated squirrel, your abs beg for mercy, and you’re pretty sure your glutes are filing a formal complaint with HR. By the end of class, I had experienced a spiritual awakening, a full-body workout, and what I can only describe as an out-of-body experience. Walking out of the studio, my legs wobbled like Bambi’s first steps, and I briefly considered renting a wheelchair. But as I hobbled to my husbands car, begging for a piggy back ride, drenched in sweat and pride, I realized I am stronger than I give myself credit for. If you’re looking for a Pilates instructor who can transform your body while simultaneously breaking your spirit (in the best way possible), Shane is your guy. His classes will push you beyond your limits, leave you questioning your life choices, and have you crawling back for more. Trust me, the pain is worth it—and hey, who doesn’t love a little post-class existential crisis? Final Verdict: 10/10. Shane’s reformer classes are the perfect blend of agony and ecstasy. Just don’t schedule anything requiring movement the day after. And whatever you do, don't go hungover.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about the entire Kink Pilates team. The new studio is beautiful with loving and thoughtful touches to make the experience comfortable and fun. Each class is fantastic. I’ve tried a few instructors and each one takes time to make sure you have proper form and understand each exercise. I’ve gone to 30 classes now, and in that short time, (and without changing my diet much) I’ve gotten toned and lost enough weight to fit back into pants that I haven’t worn since April 2019! I’m amazed by how much my posture, body, and overall strength has improved. I was crippled for years by lower back pain, and within a month it was gone. I’m so grateful to the team at Kink for helping me become stronger and happier.
I was crushing my corporate job, but my health was suffering. Enter Kink. it took me a few weeks to get the nerve to sign up, almost 100 classes later I’m so glad I did! I feel stronger and more energetic. The instructors meet you where you are without judgment. Kink attracts a community of supportive people. Kink is unique and not pretentious. I love supporting a woman owned business. If you want a great workout in a unique place with kindness and acceptance for all shapes and sizes and levels of skill, this place is for you. Kink’s style and sass brings me joy! And strength! Im sad they moved but I love the way I feel after attending class so I take the extra 10 minutes and it’s worth the trip! And the new place is beautiful!
Kink is a truly wonderful place to practice Pilates. The owner, Sarah, has created more than just a place to workout, but a community of lovely people. Many of the instructors create really fun routines from class-to-class, you will never feel bored. As you continue through different levels of classes you get to challenge yourself in new ways, while being distracted by the cool stuff you’re doing! The studio is obviously beautiful and carefully designed, but the attention to detail that Sarah and the other instructors provide in caring for clients, ensuring that everyone is comfortable and challenged, is what makes Kink so special. They are happy to make adjustments for you and include you no matter the injury. I went all through pregnant, postpartum, and beyond. I love. this. place.
Come here to take a pretty picture, don’t expect quality experience. I felt bullied and targeted during a class, and turns out the women in the class are training to teach there. They called me out indirectly and then gave me unsolicited feedback. When i reported my distaste for this experience, the owner backed them up saying they’re being helpful? I found their chatter throughout the entirety of the class distracting, so i had to tune out both them and the instructor (Shane) who i do really like and respect. The curly haired mullet woman pointed at me at the end of class and shouted “YOU!” While apparently correcting me when i was doing something wrong. I never asked. Granted i wasn’t positioned correctly, since i quite literally had to mute all noise because they were distracting, and had extremely poor class etiquette. The owner, Sarah basically canceled my membership when i gave feedback which she didn’t like. For the record, Sarah was supposed to be teaching class and was NOT in attendance during this incident. (Didn’t get any notice of there being a substitute)! However, she “reviewed the tapes” and still defended said women. Rude and unprofessional. Pretty studio, pretty bad staff!!! “Try club Pilates” is the takeaway. Sarah’s words, not mine! Save yourself the money and time!
Sarah is an amazing instructor and has built a beautiful studio. Being new to Pilates, I was a little intimidated to try it, but Sarah makes everyone feel welcome and comfortable- no matter what level you’re at. Since the classes are small, she is able to help with modifications to ensure you’re getting a great workout without getting injured. And she just makes it fun!
Sarah is one of the best Pilates instructors I’ve ever had, and her studio has the perfect mixture of zen, welcome and exercise that makes for a good studio. Sarah makes you feel comfortable whether you are new or advanced, and with the small class size is able to give attention and make adjustments for each student so that you get the maximum effect with no injury.
Love this place! Sara, the owner is so skilled and the dynamic reformer class was excellent. Great workout in a bereally attentive instruction. I was in from Out of town and spotted the sign, she was so welcoming and texted really helpful entrance instructions. I love the reformers and using the bala tools, great ways to get to know your body and build strength. ** accessibility info: the space does have an elevator but has one step to enter the building. If you are a wheelchair user I would inquire about a ramp for the step***
