80 Broadmeadow St, Marlborough, MA 01752, United States
We are tennis, racquetball, indoor and outdoor swimming, fitness, cardio, strength and functional training, land and water exercise and junior programs. We strive to be the preferred athletic club in the greater Metro West, MA area. We are a community of members who enjoy all we have to offer in a warm and welcoming setting.
New management has taken over now converting the existing three tennis courts to 12 Badminton courts. The remaining three tennis courts are the bubble are good enough for winter and other seasons. Club timings are extended now up to Midnight on weekdays + Saturday and up to 10pm on Sundays They have a handy app which makes it easy to book reservations. For swimming, you can book a lane and it is all yours for the time period. Same thing for tennis and other sports. This club has the following racket sports - Badminton, tennis, pickleball and racket ball (squash). The highlight of this club is the outdoor pool which is a heated 12ft deep pool and has two lap lanes. Plus they have a wading pool for toddlers. They have a promotion now for enrollment fees being waived until end of Jan31, at 3pm. Plus no tennis court fees for this year. The new management has plans to upgrade the gym and few other areas. The guest fees is $15 now but will increase to $30 soon.
Room for improvement. The lounge is a bit run down and uninviting, bathrooms could be redone and the staff could be more polite. I’ll look elsewhere for next year.
The man at the front desk wearing a bucket hat was extremely rude. When I asked him for directions, he responded with a harsh tone, essentially telling me to figure it out on my own. His dismissive attitude showed lack of care for his job. The encounter significantly marred my experience, making what should have been a simple interaction unpleasant.
We joined early this year, mainly for the pool access, but we have enjoyed learning Raquetball from Ted, the gym is never busy, and the steam and sauna rooms in the bathrooms are very relaxing post workout. The one thing we found unappealing after joining was that indoor pool access for members is only during the daytime Mon-Fri (because school teams use the indoor pool on weekday evenings) and open hours on the weekend. And now, with the new ownership, we are so excited with all the changes, like the addition of badminton and pickelball courts and the extension of open hours! The promise of updating the old, rusty gym equipment is definitely something to look forward to! We are so excited about how awesome this club is going to become over the next few months! Edit: I just found out that only the badminton, pickleball, and raquetball courts are open till midnight. The gym and sauna still close at 9:30pm M-F, which is highly disappointing. With membership at $160/month for the two of us, I was really expecting a lot more access.
I've been a member for many years. Very affordable, competent and helpful staff. Good atmosphere, members get along. Large pretty well equipped fitness room. Easy to schedule a swim lane with their app, no need to share a lane. I don't play tennis or racquetball but seems like good communities for each. I do wish they had a basketball court but everything else IMO is great, and the price is right Highly reccomend
Absolutely LOVE my experience over the past year!! I can swim year round between the indoor and outdoor pools. Swimming laps is so much fun and relaxing. The lifeguard staff are always very friendly and helpful. My absolute FAVORITE part of Wayside is taking Leslii’s yoga classes. She is a yogi GENIUS!! My flexibility has increased significantly, my body feels like it is healing from COVID madness and my anxiety and depression have found new coping mechanisms thanks to Leslii’s expertise and knowledge.
I have been working with Stephanie for the past six months. Through my workouts I am stronger, have more stamina and find that I am in the best shape physically than I have been in years. I would recommend Stephanie to anyone who is looking for an understanding trainer to help them become more physically fit.
The best yoga class and teacher, Leslii S., ever. She is a wonderful teacher, that works the whole body feet to head. Between swimming, water exercise classes, and swimming laps at the Club my physical health has improved immensely. However, it was not until I started the classes with Leslii that I started to feel great.
Man at front desk was extremely rude.. I was only asking for directions and he has an extremely rude tone basically just telling me to figure it out myself.
The structure is fantastic, but everything is so old, looks like a old nursing home. This place in a young hands gonna be the best place around here.
Be careful before you join this club and make sure you check everything especially the contract details
Fantastic facility with amazing staff
Membership fees are very unfriendly toward adults. Geared mainly for families with lots of kids. E.g., couples only membership is the same price as couples + 3 kids membership. Facility also very run down. Also watch out for set up fee and yearly maintenance fee. How entering a new member into the computer system (i.e. set up) and facility maintenance isnt covered by the very expensive membership fee is a joke.
Great place with lots of greenery, very crystal clear pool, good infrastructure.
All the classes here are great! I especially enjoy the Aqua Fit, Zumba and Vinyasa Yoga Flow!
Beautiful Racquetball courts
I have taken the small group class with Jeanine twice now and absolutely love it love it love it. Nice variety of exercises that also allow me to modify when I need without compromising the workout. I hope it becomes a permanent fixture. I also want to say that recent Zumba gold class and the pop up class by Cathy were fantastic and hope they will be offered on a permanent basis.
Facilities need to be updated. Pool staff are not good with kids and are really grumpy. Sat at the pool and watched as the life guard scrolled through his phone. Good thing is there are plenty of seats at the pool.
I love the small group training class. I wish it was offered more than just once/week. I love the way I feel after the class. Its challenging, but in a way that is not overwhelming. I love the variety of each class and how it never gets boring. Jeanine is great - she doesnt let you slack (like shes caught me doing a couple of times) and the members in the class are so much fun!
Excellent gym. The staff is extremely attentive, the hygiene of the club is exemplary, every day I see people disinfecting all the environments. The gym is spacious, with several devices that cater to different formats of physical training.
I enthusiastically recommend the Small Group Training Classes with Jeanine! The combination of cardio and strength training is a wonderful way to enhance and fine tune my current workout!
I love the facilities, the super clean pools and good maintenance.
I was a member of this club for years. My family were members. Its like a family at the club. I loved it so much that I trained to be a group exercise and water fitness instructor. I love the participants in my classes ... we have a good time while working hard. Exercise should be fun. I encourage all reading this to come down and check out the facility and see what were offering. Its the best exercise facility around.
Wayside has always been a place I could count on. Always friendly, Always clean and easy to get in and get out. Wide range of sports and fitness activities for all ages swimming, tennis, racquet ball, cycle class and Les Mills group exercise are just a few! Early morning classes they have you covered. Evening classes they also have your covered. I feel safe and its a place I depend on to workout hard, get my sweat on and leave feeling good about myself. If you keep showing up they will too. In it together, always has been and always will be. See you there! Sincerely yours
Pros: - Quiet - All in one (swimming, Tennis, Fitness) - clean and big Cons: - very expansive - Rude employee and not friendly - working hour in weekends not good at all! - fitness room doesnt have all necessary equipment - not good customer service at the end its not worth the money! -
Love Wayside Athletic Club! They offer everything....tennis, racquetball, 2 well maintained pools, group fitness classes, swim and tennis lessons....the list goes on and on. Highly recommend :)
Wayside Athletic Club is my favorite fitness establishment in the area. During this pandemic they have practiced thorough safety and sanitation procedures while doing all they can to accommodate their members needs to move their bodies and safely interact with others. I cannot recommend them enough to people of all ages! The management is wonderful, specifically Brian, who is a very responsive and receptive staff member. If you were on the fence about joining, especially during a pandemic, this is your sign to get on it.
Great health club. Nice staff.
Downside is they close at 6 PM on weekends.
Okay
Do not spend money in Fitness, moved all Fitness equipments in Ugly area looks like Jail cell and no air circulations at all. Some equipments removed from the area and will not be replaced. Most seniors are not happy due to increased membership fee with no services. Fitness training staff is great but upper level management not good. They never listen or get members survey or feed back before relocated fitness equipments in ugly area. All current members not happy at all!!!
I give them 4 stars, because theres still room for improvement, but I can see that there have been recent changes in the right direction. I come early in the morning for swimming and the life guards are always there on time and very helpful. This is a big change from what it used to be (waiting in the hall for life guards to come in and everyone being grumpy). Kudos to the life guards and management for getting the right people in. I also have to say that I see a big improvement in most of the staff. People are on time and friendly. Although I dont agree with all the changes in the weight / aerobic area, I have to say the effort is there. Its cleaner and there is new equipment. Id still like to see the roof leaks fixed in the gym area, its annoying to have to dodge the barrels of water when lifting weights etc. This has been going on for years. Budgeted monies for this problem would be well spent.
My son and I had an awful experience here in this club. Never going back. Life guard was extremely rude and put my child in danger. When I approached the club s manager, he didnt do anything about it. I do not recommend this club or swimming lessons to anyone. Do not put your child in danger.
They have really good service and their snack shack during the summer is phenomenal!!!
This is a great gym and great pool with great people
I love working out here...The atmosphere is top notch
Wayside is gem. Never too crowded, and we love the variety of activities available to us. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Instructors are thorough and have given us very useful input. Wayside is a great value for the price.
Love this club! Great variety of group classes and times. They are also in the process of making various updates to the facilities. They have great childrens swim class you can purchase, even if not a member.
I just go to play raquetball and quite happy about those services. Kinda expensive for non members, but good price if you are one. Has indoor swimming pool and indoor tennis courts as well. Good place for gym as well and i see lot of classes for zumba and related activities but never joined any.
Nice freeweight room. I dont like that they charge extra for racquetball. Ive never heard of that before. They do have a great racquetball community though.
There is something for everyone at this club. My 13 year old son loves Paulas fitness program. I love that the club is not crowded on weekend mornings. We get in and out doing our own workouts and I cant wait for the outdoor pool to open.
I like this club, have been a paying member since the first shovel about 100 years ago. Am a tennis fanatic all those years but now to save on the electric bill they changed from professional indirect lighting to some cheap direct lighting. Its dark and on high shots you look into several lights! What a shame! I am almost dead but for the rest of the tennis players it is a major negative! They should go to indirect lighting, the ceilings are still white to reflect! Maybe prayer will work!
I have been a Wayside Club Member for about ten years and highly value the club for its friendly staff and members - its a real community. The racquetball program is very active and friendly, the indoor and outdoor pools are great, the fitness center is fine and there are plenty of group classes including Yoga when you want get super-relaxed. Theres no shortage of facilities, including Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. I totally recommend the club.
I cannot say enough good things about the Wayside Racquet & Swim Club! Everyone is so nice and it is infectious. The family used to swim there and everything was clean to the showers and the pools. Cannot wait to get back this summer!
great gym, its a family gym. everything is clean and staff is extremly friendly!
Outdated equipment and facility - pretty rundown. It is O.K. for a quick workout and the the staff is nice
