Round1 Bowling & Arcade Holyoke Mall in Holyoke

Ive been to this place many times and have had an awesome, fun experience. Tonight I was invited to a 43rd birthday party for one of my friends in the karaoke room. It was their first time stepping foot into this place. Started off fun. Then the fire alarm went off, and we had to exit. Fire alarm was coming from a closed restaurant on the other side of holyoke Mall. Was outside for maybe 30 minutes until we realized round 1 was the only one who shut down. Went inside the mall and waited infront of the arcade. Birthday girl had to leave her license to save the party prior to the karaoke room time 7pm. They said she couldnt get a refund if she requested her license back at that time. ???. We were maybe 25 people deep at her party and contemplating on taking festivities somewhere else and your going to not refund her party if she takes her ID back. Anywhere we go as a crew of above 21 will ask for identification. Also most of us ordered drinks and food right before this happened and didnt get anything yet. I understand they cant control what happened but it seemed like by staff this happens alot and they had no sympathy at all. Finally they opened an hour later. I ordered food and was told they had to fill orders that were made previously. I totally understand. I went back to karaoke room and enjoyed some fun. Maybe 20 minutes past and took my proof of payment up to the counter. They said because I wasnt waiting infront on the counter they didnt do my order. Now missing more of the party waiting another 15 ...20 minutes. Food wasnt that great. The head staff was rude and and abusive to other staff members. Worst experience ever

This place always has their games up to date. The only issue is the people. I believe it happened this year, but a fight has broken out and the person tried to hit another with the car. Went straight through the doors which caused the round 1 to close. The several times I have been there I never had an issue. Its the people that make it bad.

Have i spent thousands of dollars here in the past 4 years ive lived in the area? Yes. Have a regretted a single penny of it? No. I would chain myself to the giant bowling pin in front of the store if they ever tried to close and bulldoze it ala early 2000s environmenralist disney TV movie.

Stay away from ordering food and drinks, only 1 person working. Claw machines are scams stay away from claw machines. This place is a Kids world if you can be patient with lack of service available.

Place was filthy and had flies around nearly every single table. Staff was very unprofessional and impatient. My 15 year old daughter, whos autistic, tried to order her own food and one of the workers, a fellow with a black jacket (an intern Im assuming since his clothes didnt look like the standard uniform) was impatient with her and raised his voice at her once for getting nervous and confused since they didnt have a certain food she wanted. We left immediately after, never coming here again, treat others the way you want them to treat you.

Amazing staff!! I lost my phone in the store and the managers and other staff made sure to call and find it when they turned the machines off and brought my phone out to me at the end of the night as my friends drove us there from Vermont. I AM SO THANKFUL FOR GOOD PEOPLE. YEAH IM POINTING AT YOU! #GOTEAMHUMAN. You saved my silly self! Thank you!

Was a lot of fun. Lots of Japanese games and the crane games were great. Tried to order advertised drinks and were told they were not allowed to make them because they were out of coasters...stupid reason and false advertising.

Lots of games including nice rhythm, driving and fighting game sections. Tons of bowling lanes, a snack bar and bar bar. Just a great arcade.

Horrible experience! This was my second time coming here and that s only because there isnt much else around here. Bathrooms were disgusting!!! Wait times are ridiculous for food and drinks. (Took an hour for 1 scoop of ice cream) then they tell you that you can t have drinks on the floor and need to sit at the bar. They shut their card machines down one hour before closing so you can t even play games. This place had potential but management is running it into the ground. I will never go here again.

Great place for kids and family

Our family loves to bowl but the ENTIRE time we were bowling, there were strobe lights going all around. If you have any sensitivity to flashing lights, find another bowling alley. They told us there was nothing they could do and we have been to other Round1 bowling alleys where this does not happen.

I had such a great time here celebrating my birthday. The karaoke and bowling is a nice addition to the arcade. I also love that it s open later for people who work during the day! I would recommend this place to anyone in the area looking to have some genuine fun with friends and family.

Best staff ever!!! This location is clean and neat, there s a ton of variety of games from coin pushers to DDR to racing games to carnival games, but above all the staff shines. Huge shout out to the supervisors, the person who works the bar/concessions 10-6, the redhead with the cool nails, Ryan, Angel, and everyone else. Never had a bad time here, it s our comfort place, staff is always super helpful, friendly and responsive. Also the bowling lanes are some of the cleanest/best in the region.

A family entertainment place and a success for children.

Incompetent staff that cant do their job right on the first try, and when they get called out on it the manager calls to throw you out. Didnt even bother to ask what happened, just threw me out. Its not my fault you suck at hiring people who are any good at their jobs and that you lack the spine to stand up for your customers.

Despite been said as opened til 2. Arrived at 1245 trying to hire a lane for bowling. Was told that was not available by the associate as they needed to close. Took an uber from Portland to get here. Do employees make up there own rules or should we trust posted hours on website?

One of the most entertaining places Ive been to. They have something for everyone; billiards, bowling, arcade, claw machines, karaoke, full bar and dining. Lots of fun, and I always leave with a ton of prizes

No surprise, but they scam My daughter and I always play Willy Wonka at various places, and this is the first time we didnt get the full set. They scam you by not including the Willy Wonka card in the game.

We were there two days ago and although the games were amazing to play and my kids had fun winning in the claw machines, I was extremely disappointed and mad about the bathrooms. Both women and mens bathroom smelled like weed.

This is a new family favorite spot. I got the pricy card and it was worth it because thr more you put on the more they give for free which is nice so instead of paying 2 for the lower car and only getting the basic flat rate, pay 5$ so you can get the bonus points for everything you buy. Will be coming down here as much as we can honestly.

Go here if you dont want to bowl. 4 bowling lanes broke while we were there and the worker (Terren) promised us a partial refund just to turn around and say there was nothing he could do. Worst customer service Ive ever witnessed (in general not just the refund). Avoid this place at all costs, Terren will ensure you have the worst time of your life.

Good arcade selection, terrible food service. I went to the arcade in a small group of friends and we went to get food before we left. The workers at the food service counter never called us over the loudspeaker to get our food like they did with other guests, and as a result two of our orders got swiped. One of our orders was actually given to someone who ordered after us since we werent up at the counter to get the food since, again, they didnt call for us over the loudspeaker. We waited 20 minutes for a small order of fries and the people who got their food swiped by other guests had to wait around 40. After all that wait, the food was just okay. Its in your best interest to get your food before you get to the arcade or after you leave.

Worst birthday party ever. No air conditioning they had no idea a party was booked . Tables were filthy, cards weren t loaded then was told it was only for certain games, pizza was late and horrible. Contacted Bo twice and never heard back.

Was ok, went bowling, got 2 lanes and played 1 string, spent over $100 which I thought was nuts! One lane kept jamming and not setting, the other had bumpers that wouldnt go down. Overall, not worth the money but it was a fun time.

Great place. Went to play pool and stayed to play some video games and air hockey. I think there needs to be more machines for checking and loading the Round1 card. I also think there are way too many claw type machines.

Fun place with a decent selection of games for all ages. What I dont like is the currency used to play games, I think if the math was done you end up paying a few dollars for the cheapest game.

This location has a poor selection of plushes in the claw machines. Also, the machines are rigged and extremely difficult to win. Other locations are much easier to win. There is also a lack of employees walking around to help with the machines. Would definitely recommend visiting another location if possible.

Great employees terrible bowling lanes (and management), went to bowl for 90 minutes got switched to 3 different lanes due to all of them not working. After the 3rd lane failure we requested a refund and they gave us bowling vouchers for 1 game (which did not include the shoes we paid for, meaning we d have to pay again). We didn t even get to talk to the short male manager, as he sent his employee to be a messenger for him so I lost $40.

Reasonable pricing for the arcade for what you get out of it, excellent selection of game machines, crane machines, and prizes. Staff was very friendly, however, they seemed understaffed for a Saturday evening, which made all lines incredibly long. I had to wait in line for over 20 minutes just to get a refill on soda (water, but thought free refills would be nice prior to the line situation) because there was only one person working that counter. Maybe there were some call-outs or something, but I felt genuinely bad for the stressed out drained workers, some of whom were running between counters trying to help everyone, so the missing star is for the management end of the business, hopefully for the employees sakes this isnt a normal occurrence. The only arcade related issue I had was hitting a jackpot on my first try of a particular machine and having it tell me Maximum Payout Unawarded Tickets: ###(number here) I found a staff member and asked what it meant, and they didnt explain but got their supervisor, who also didnt explain, but swiped their own card on the machine and it then issued the unawarded tickets. This was my first time at an arcade since Chuck E Cheese as a kid, so maybe Im just silly for not knowing, I assume maybe it happens when you win over a certain amount to ensure theres nothing sketchy going on, but an explanation wouldve been nice just so that Id understand what it meant in case it happens again one day, but I got my tickets so I wasnt about to complain.

I went with my family last week and had a pretty great time. I did everything bowling , arcade and billiards. Bowling is a little pricey but still worth it. I had some trouble with my game card and out of the two managers that I saw, only Dennis ( I believe his name) was able to help me out . He was super nice and funny. Definitely tried to connect with me while he was fixing my problem. Recommend Dennis all the way . Will come back soon.

Bowling Lane had problems, so we couldnt bowl. Staff was unhelpful, and the manager was evasive and shady. My wifes family was visiting from North Carolina, and we had a horrible experience. We will never return.

Overall a fun place to be, I LOVE the Japanese rhythm game section. I make a bee line to the rhythm games as soon as I get there, Im glad they added this to the Holyoke mall. A nice addition to a somewhat boring town for the average teen/young adult. I can tell the staff are stressed at times though, especially in the kitchen area. It seems they are short staffed most of the time, not their fault though!

My friend and I came from CT to check out Round 1 because we heard so many good things about it. Right when we got there, we were amazed at just how cool it was. Im a big arcade fan so and the atmosphere blew me away. I quickly spotted one of my favorite games (Flying Tickets) that had a jackpot of 1000 tickets and thought it would be a good game to play to start off the day. I played and won a few times, then at some point during a play the button didnt work causing me to lose, and a play or two later the game froze and I went to get help to fix it. The employee behind the counter asked me what happened, started filling out a log to report the credit refund (I didnt realize how seriously the credit system was taken until I saw that but I respect it as things like that should be accounted for), the manager came over, who was extremely serious and unfriendly, asked what happened, I told him, then he told me that he only sees one occurrence of the game not working. I explained the button not working was the second issue but he only refunded me for one play, telling me that they dont give credit back on plays that paid out. Maybe if I ordered food there and I found a hair in it halfway through eating, he would say the same thing. We went to the machine, where he and a tech person reset it and said it was good to go. The first time I played after that the game froze/lagged causing me to lose again, and the following play (now as player 2 to see if that would change anything), I hit the jackpot and the game didnt pay out, causing me to go to the registers again and explain the situation. The manager came over and although their screen said one thing, I adamantly explained that I got a score of 112 (the jackpot goal was 98, their screen said I got 102) and that the machine didnt payout and was also freezing/messing up still. He hesitantly gave me the 1000 tickets but at no point offered anymore credits even though the machine was malfunctioning. They marked the machine as out of order and I went on to enjoy playing claw machines and other games. I had a good experience playing but the actions (or lack thereof) the employee and manager (especially the manager) left such a bad feeling in me. I thanked him multiple times for assisting and even apologized for having to bother them but he was just so stern and unhelpful and that really turned me off from wanting to return to that location. I understand the business is about making money, but people go to an arcade to have fun and having a person in charge who is rude and unwilling to help customers when theyve been done wrong is an awful vibe for such a cool place. I wrote whats above almost word-for-word on their website and submitted it in the feedback section. The GM reached out to me and although he seemed somewhat apologetic and (ostensibly) understanding of the situations, he was also defensive of their policies and offered no actual help. I expressed my disappointment towards his response but he never replied. Im glad that other reviewers on here feel the same way about the manager; awful customer service from top to bottom.

I came in to play pool . after I inserted my card. The guy tells me that I need my ID I didn t have my ID so I left. the next day I saw my bank statement that I was charged even though I didn t play I called and ask for a refund. It s been a week since I got my refund every single day. I ve called and asked they ve been giving me a hard time just to give a refund for a game. I never played . this place is absolutely horrible For customer service. DONT COME HERE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE

The guy who I presume to be the manager was really kind. He helped me upgrade my card and took the time to help me connect it to my app. Additionally he helped get one of the prizes out of the machine when I won and couldn t find any of the workers around. Overall a great experience. I live over 2 hours away but I will be back!

Great place, the kids and the parents had a blast!

This place does not deserve the hype at all. I rather go to literally any other arcade than here. Theres no air conditioning so youre basically being boiled while playing. They have a food court area inside round one but when I went with my group of friends noone was there at all. Their karaoke room was also unsanitary and just leave u with no help to start the karaoke machine. When you book a room to do karaoke, you have to leave an ID and nobody was there to give me my ID back. Told me they would ship my drivers license back to me but its been over two weeks and i get no mail back. Called again and they were basically telling me well we must have shipped it because its not here anymore so not our problem. The staff are not helpful and its not worth the drive going there. I wouldnt come back here again.

We love RoundOne. It s a fun place to play our favorite arcade games, bowling, billiards. And, to top the experience off, Darlene holds down the bar with a smiling face. When we come in and see her here, we know it s going to be a wonderful night!

No music, lanes are slow

Bowling lanes are extremely slow to reset. Air conditioner must be broken. Feels like it 90 in here. Employees would rather sit and talk rather than taking food orders. 30 minutes for nachos???? Never again.

Nice place for gaming.....we wanted to bowl but was a 2 hour wait

We can start with the fact that we went here to escape the heat outside only to be met with an at least 75 degree interior temperature. It would have been fine except that we were equally disappointed with the bowling area from the ripped couches to the score board not working properly and having to change our own scores. Don t bother spending your money on games there because have of them are missing balls/ping pong balls/ and even one was missing the air hockey puck. Waste of a drive would 10/10 recommend not to return.

I went here for my birthday yesterday. Did the arcade and sang some karaoke. There were a lot of technical issues - mics werent working properly and setting up the karaoke machine was tedious. We had to call the staff in a few times because of all the issues. On top of that, we were informed that we had to switch rooms since another party was supposed to be in our room. Lots of time was wasted and we were only supposed to be here for an hour. I forgot my ID and i came back today to retrieve it. The manager informed me that I would have to pay an extra $27 for karaoke since we overstayed or welcome. On top of that, he accused us of leaving without pay on purpose. Mind you, he was nowhere to be seen yesterday. Just a whole gaslighter that loves making his customers suffer. I wouldnt come here again.

Staff was nice but operations is a complete mess. First the credit card machines were down. This wouldnt be that big of an issue, thinks happen however the only other time I have been there (a year ago), the credit card machines were down. The bowling lane randomly recorded strikes or not at all. The bumpers randomly came up even though the setting was turned off. Ordered a while pizza, it was raw. This want a staff fault, the management has the oven set to fast. The bar had 10 beers on tap, all bit 2 were empty. Go to spare time in Northampton, things are cheaper and everything works.

Round one was very good but the bowling alley charged us for bowling shoes but we didnt get the option too wear them.

Some of the employees were rude and on their phones

My family and I actually initially had a great time, not too many issues with the games, the food staff worked hard and they were friendly as well as the bowling attendants. We went to grab a bite to eat and returned in through the entry/exit that apparently turns into an emergency exit after 9 pm. There was no security there or rope to inform us, we were completely unaware. My nieces trailed behind us after using the bathroom and by then, the rope was up and security had yelled at them they had to go outside and come back around the front entrance. We were just trying to leave, the manager and another security employee were rude to me and to my 2 teenage nieces and had no concern for their safety making them walk outside the mall alone at night. I asked if there was any way an adult could escort them whether it be me or a mall/round1 employee. The security guard basically told me he didnt have time for this and to do whatever I wanted and that mall security would deal with me. I tried following the rules but not at the expense of my teenage nieces safety. I told the manager i was unhappy how we were treated and he offered me ice cream and no apology for being treated so rudely after spending money there all night. All he did was condescendingly explain to me the security protocol, (which they didnt follow anyway). Hopefully corporate can provide more training and resources to their employees so they dont feel the need to snap at paying customers. I am sure a Saturday night is busy and stressful and although we wont be returning to this location I hope in the future other families wont be treated this way.

Lanes were maintained and employees were professional and assisted when lane had one glitch. Our party of 10 had a great time.

They claimed short staffed while 5 workers were not doing anything. We bought billiards and had to wait 20 minutes for a person to come up and be rude to us. Racist. Never coming here again.

The staff were so patient and helpful with fixing an issue with my game card. Very much appreciated! Im here about once a week and always have a fun time. I miss the Taunton location dearly but this is a good spot! Would love to see them get a Taiko No Tatsujin machine in for the rhythm game area.

Not a safe place. My car was broken into, window smashed, and their state of the art security didnt pick up on who did it. Secind time I went, had a credit card stolen. The clientele isnt the companys fault, but this Round 1 seems to attract some disgusting people and security doesnt do anything to prevent issues. Not to mention the staff, who also just want to shut you up instead of addressing concerns. Manager is a nasty person and barely around. Not my idea of fun.

My initial impressions were that the place was a bit overpriced, like requiring you to buy a $2 card to load your credits on is ridiculous as I dont live nearby, so wouldnt often be there. Some games cost the equivalent of $3 per play as well. I was willing to accept this until I wanted to grab a beer. The bartender working seemed as if theyd never done the job. There were 2 people in line before me and they ordered a beer each and a shot. Unfortunately the keg kicked and the liquor they ordered had run out. Okay I get it things happen. The part that was unacceptable is that after waiting 10 full minutes for her to finish serving the 2 in front of me, her and another employee went to look at the liquor bottles, wasted a few minutes talking there, then she came back to where I was waiting thinking after 15 minutes Id finally get service, but nope, the nearly toothless wonder after making eye contact with me went back over and started fiddling with her bottles. Ive never been so ignored waiting for a drink, so I walked out. Absolutely unacceptable service on a slow Sunday afternoon!

This place is a lot of fun! Way better than Dave and Busters or other similar places. Its because they have a much better game selection, including a bunch of wicked cool Japanese imports. None of these types of arcades are cheap, but with this one, its money well spent.

Management and staff were horrible last night. You ask a question about why the claw machines were all out of order on a Friday night & they stand around and talk about you like kids. 10 machines out of 50 were working but rigged AF. I brought my daughter and her friend there from Boston after work on a Friday night & this place was ridiculous. I just wanted them to have fun it s not about the money. Just overstaff for nothing, when they do absolutely nothing there but watch. Poorly staffed & I m just very disappointed.

Good arcade, wide selection, imported Japanese Sega City type machines with good selection of 90s games. Pinball machines are always in mild disrepair. Not a Stern Army location. Bowling is good. Food and beverages are mediocre. . . OK for a snack. Beer is available.
