Pioneer Valley Pelvic Health, LLC is a queer owned pelvic floor therapy practice providing holistic, patient-centered care for people of all genders.
Em is fantastic. Since starting pelvic floor physical therapy with them, my body feels completely different (in the best way). Their mix of visual cueing and hands on work (with consistent consent check-ins) has been extremely effective for me. I’ve learned to engage muscles in my core that have helped me feel so much stronger and more relaxed in my body, and I’ve taken so many lessons from our sessions that I utilize day to day (all simple & easy to incorporate into a life). Something I didn’t expect from PT was to have such an advocate, as well- Em has helped me navigate and advocate for myself with other practitioners like Gynecologists and my PCP. They always follow up with thorough notes that make it so clear to me what my next steps and action items are. If you’re having any kind of symptoms that you even just slightly suspect could be improved by pelvic floor physical therapy, I highly recommend giving it a try with Em!
I went to Em for a PT session, and had a glowingly positive experience. They are trauma-informed, queer and trans affirming, and covid conscious. Em's office is warm and welcoming, and so is Em! From the moment I walked into my appointment, Em quickly assessed what was happening in my body that was causing me pain, and they did some external hands-on work to help relieve the pain. We also did some careful stretching, and I felt like they listened carefully to my feedback about my own body and what felt good or didn't to me. They also sent me home with a few practical things I could continue doing to feel better. We had easy conversation that helped make the session feel more comfortable. If you're looking for a pelvic floor PT in the River Valley, I can't recommend Em more highly!
Pioneer Valley Pelvic Health is amazing. From the second I walked in, I felt comfortable and truly heard. Em is incredibly knowledgeable, I felt like each session was an eye-opening process of re-learning my body and getting to know anatomy in a whole new way. After having two kids, I really needed to spend some time caring for myself in this way, and having Em by my side made all the difference. I will carry this learning with me forever and pass it on to my kids. Try Pioneer Valley Pelvic Health, you won't regret it!
PVPH made a huge difference in my c-section recovery. Em is awesome to work with and made me feel comfortable, understood a complex history, and gave me the gift of understanding my body on a new level. My relationship with movement, my scar, birth and pregnancy, and intercourse have all improved from my 8 months of pelvic floor therapy.
I had a lot of pain after surgery. Em was wonderful. They are inclusive, and comfortable to do pelvic floor therapy with. They helped a ton early on when was having intense muscle pain and tightness. Pelvic floor therapy was really helpful for me and I always felt a reduction in pain and tightness afterwards. I am pretty much where I want to be now, and feelibg a ton better.
Working with Em Ike has been a positively life-changing experience. They are a kind, gentle, and deeply knowledgeable provider who immediately made me feel at ease in their care. Em has given me a strong arsenal of different strategies to manage my pain: after several months of working together, I am feeling SO much better and finally in control of my symptoms. I can’t recommend them highly enough!
As someone living with multiple sclerosis who also has a trauma history, I have seen countless medical and mental health practitioners. Em is without a doubt the most knowledgeable and effective I have ever worked with. Em is a highly skilled, trauma-informed clinician who is also caring and intuitive. They provide a welcoming, safe, inclusive, respectful and hopeful environment, and this allowed me to feel comfortable discussing very personal issues related to bowel and bladder incontinence despite my anxiety in doing so. I had previous pelvic floor physical therapy from other practitioners, which was either only temporarily helpful, or not helpful at all. By contrast, I saw immediate and continued results from Em's PT. In addition, because they are also an occupational therapist, their approach is more holistic, encompassing not only pelvic floor PT, but other measures like muscular therapy and massage, core strengthening, at-home exercises, and life-style suggestions (for example, things to help me take a planned road trip comfortably). Everything was gently suggested and provided in a way that worked for me, i.e. if one exercise didn't work, Em might suggest another one, or maybe we would decide to omit that one entirely. It was a very collaborative process, and Em obtained my consent at every step. One of the biggest things they provided for me was education - learning what was happening in my body and why, and what could be done. Huge. I walked into my first appointment with Em feeling like there was something wrong with me and I was never going to get better, and I "graduated" not only feeling better, but also empowered because I now had education and tools to support myself and my body. It is not hyperbole to say Em changed my life. I am forever grateful and highly recommend them.
I have been seeing Em at Pioneer Valley Pelvic Health for the past few months. From my very first appointment I felt welcome and at ease. Em took the time to listen to my concerns and assess my condition, asking for consent at each step, before creating a personalized treatment plan. Throughout my sessions they were incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and encouraging. I appreciated how they explained each exercise and its purpose. Em was always attentive, ensuring I was comfortable and making adjustments to my regimen as needed. I’ve made significant progress thanks to their expertise and support. If you’re looking for a dedicated and compassionate person to work with, Em is the person to see.
