Melinda is a delightful person and really knows her stuff when it comes to strengthening and rehabilitation. My poodle had a mysterious limp we could not get to the bottom of and after a few weeks of sessions with Melinda and some at home exercises, he's good as new. As much as I hope my dog doesn't get injured again, it's comforting to know someone so knowledgeable and good at their job is nearby if needed!
Could not have had a more positive experience! My 9 year old Dane had encountered a recent illness that seemed to exacerbate her previously mild mobility issues. We had gone to a lovely facility for underwater treadmill therapy and PT a few times prior to seeing Melinda, but the length of travel and my busy schedule were prohibitive. I was excited to see a rehab facility open nearby, and even more excited to see that it is owned and run by a licensed technician. As a CVT myself, I love to support fellow licensed technicians that have sought alternative career paths. We were not disappointed! Melinda was thorough in her history taking and took the time to learn about our expectations and goals for Veruca. She carefully explained what she was doing each step of the way so that we could confidently carry on at home. She provided clear written discharge instructions, and gave us access to an online portal where we could watch reference videos and track Verucas progress. To top it all off, her prices were significantly less expensive than where we had been prior. Best of all, she was patient and kind with my big, deaf dope, and Veruca was instantly relaxed. The progress she’s made is impressive, and she can’t wait to go back!
Words can't even begin to describe what an amazing experience we had working with Melinda. Our dog, Piper, was hit by a car in August and had severe wounds on her hind legs. Once her wounds healed the vet told us that she would need surgery or she would have to wear a brace for the rest of her life. We found Melinda and decided to do physical therapy instead of surgery. Less than 3 months later, Piper is fully recovered. She does have a brace that Melinda helped fit her with- but she only wears it during very long walks or more strenuous hikes. The brace was also a third of the cost of what the vets had quoted us. It's evident Melinda loves what she does- and Piper loved working with her too! From the laser therapy to the water treadmill to the daily exercises- everything was out of this world. The level of care Melinda provides is truly exceptional. We are so grateful.
Our sweet Canis LOVES his laser therapy and treadmill sessions. He also loves Melinda! He made great strides with this treatment and we are grateful for Melinda’s knowledge and her amazing treatment of our boy.
My 6 year-old male lab mix needed surgery on his knee after torn ACL. My research told me that physical therapy both before and after the operation facilitated the healing process. A quick search led me to Melinda and Power Paws. We had one visit before surgery and the rest after (FYI, you to wait two weeks after surgery to the pup to be in water.) At Power Paws, the first time my guy was in the underwater treadmill, he cried like a baby! Then, he had his surgery. I followed the Power Paws exercise routine slowly and took him for frequent walks. Two weeks post surgery, he was back at Power Paws and the underwater treadmill. He needed frequent treats from me (in front) and Melinda (behind, making sure he didn't cheat by standing on the non moving part!) He got better and better each week, though. The last two times he was able to enter the treadmill pool and walk all by himself with only Melinda's hand on his harness from outside! Seeing him improve was a real balm for my soul–we had worried so much. At his six week post surgery check up, our veterinary surgeon in Connecticut was very impressed with my boy's improvement. If you have a dog who needs surgery, you should definitely consider physical therapy as part of the recovery. Melinda and Power Paws really helped facilitate my dog's healing, and I'm glad she was there for us.
When our beloved Bennie tore his left hind cruciate ligament we were at a loss on how to help him make a full recovery or even if it was a possibility until we were referred to Melinda from our Veterinarian. With Melinda’s-expertise, enthusiasm, heartfelt compassion, and many years as a Physical Therapist Bennie made a complete recovery. Her facility provides state of the art equipment including laser treatment and a water-treadmill. She also provided fun protocols to work on at home that would maintain his active doggy lifestyle. Grateful ! Amanda, Wayne & Bennie
