Easthampton Clay is a friendly, inclusive ceramics community in western Massachusetts with a large, well-equipped studio space that is shared by a diverse group of ceramic artists and potters.
Easthampton Clay is a gem in our community! It is truly such a friendly, inclusive and nonjudgmental space. The studio is beautiful, spacious, clean and stocked with everything you could possibly need. The community is incredibly fun, kind and supportive. They have hand building and wheel throwing classes for beginners all the way to advanced and the teachers are highly skilled and knowledgeable about everything to do with clay! I’ve been taking hand building classes for a little over a year now and I have learned so much in just a year. Liz, Michelle and Kayla are incredible artists and teachers! I’ve also taken several of the amazing workshops including Kayla’s surface design, stamp making with Lisa and, of course, Kaleigh’s date night wheel class with my husband. It was a blast! I had no idea what a wonderful and joyous journey of creativity I was starting when I walked into my first class and somehow when I wasn’t expecting it, I found my tribe.
Great experience across the board here - tons of classes and workshops, good pricing, amazing work space and supplies, and the studio moves tons of work fast without damage. They also offer multiple handbuilding and design classes as well as wheel. Large variety of studio glazes are available. There are occasional issues with materials due to supply chain problems, but communication and troubleshooting about them has been great.
I took my first [wheel] class at Easthampton Clay in May of 2023 and have been completely hooked ever since, thanks in large part to the incredible community Liz & co have built here - warm, supportive, inclusive, accessible, diverse... this is a safe space and I am so grateful for it. The studio is large, well-stocked, and beautifully lit. The glazes and kiln firings are all included with each class. At this point I have taken classes with literally every teacher (Ashley, Kayla, Molly, Kaleigh, Liz, and Michele), both wheel and handbuilding, and each of them has taught me so much about working with clay/in a community studio setting. I went from not knowing the first thing about clay/ceramics to building these lil cuties in just a matter of months and it's all thanks to this community. (Still not great at wheel throwing but that's ok!)
I signed up for the Beginners Hand Building course. The teachers there are very knowledgeable and professional. Liz makes the class fun! Every week we work on a different project. I especially like that they offer two extra hours a week for practice time. In addition to the two hours we have in class.
Easthampton Clay is an amazing pottery studio. Liz Rodriguez and team always have gone above and beyond to make a fun experience. I would highly recommend being a member of this community. Whether you’re a complete beginner (like me) or an experienced potter, Easthampton Clay can provide what you’re looking for.
A Delightful Experience at Easthampton Clay ! I've been taking classes at Easthampton Clay for over a year now, and my love for pottery has only grown stronger. The instructors are super skilled, fun to be around, and they make the learning process enjoyable. The studio community is warm and welcoming, and I appreciate the extra safety measures that have been put in place. If I could, I would be at the studio every day! I am so grateful for the opportunity that Easthampton Clay has provided me and other students to get our hands muddy and unleash our creativity.
I did a pottery workshop for vejigante mask and had so much fun! It was my first time at a pottery class so I didn’t know what to expect but my class instructor Liz was welcoming, warm and extremely patient with our class. I highly recommend this place!
I love this studio!! It’s been such a welcoming space and the teachers are the best. Liz is so great at breaking down steps and helping when I’m worried I messed something up, which makes a difference being a beginner. Everything felt really organized in the workshop and I was so happy with the piece I created! The range of workshops is amazing and I love that it’s community based and so inclusive. Definitely a fun and creative experience!
