Established in 1972, Pioneer Valley Ballet engages, inspires and nurtures people of all ages and abilities through artistic excellence in classical ballet education and performance. PVB is a non-profit, mission-based organization with programming that includes year-round training opportunities for both casual and dedicated young dancers, two annual productions (including The Nutcracker) with student, community, and professional dancers, and extensive dance outreach to the community.
I am a proud alumni of Pioneer Valley Ballet and have nothing but the best to say about this organization. The teachers & staff are truly remarkable and talented, and have given me so many fond memories and life skills, both on and off the stage. Would recommend PVB to anyone interested in ballet - no matter the level.
My daughter has taken classes and performed in the Nutcracker and spring shows for several years. She looks forward to every season and has learned a lot.
Best place for my kids to be. Warmth, structure, creativity and beautiful classes and shows, we’ve been apart of this awesome community for 10 years and will continue for another 5-7 at least. My kids have gotten self confidence and refinement from joining PVB and for my girls especially a healthy body image showing it’s not about your size but your abilities to dance well and beautifully. Good job PVB!
PVB is a wonderful ballet school with exceptional teachers and amazing performance opportunities for all ballet students, welcoming all children from the community to participate. Our family has made many joyful memories in the studios and on the stage with PVB.
Best place in the Valley for ballet training! The teachers are knowledgeable, extremely patient and kind. It's a very inclusive environment, they welcome dancers of all shapes and sizes. Plus there is the amazing opportunity to participate in performances at the Academy of Music twice a year. Truly wonderful non-profit school and conveniently located off 91.
I danced at PVB since my first show when I was 7 to when I graduated. Any involvement with the teachers and productions are something truly magical to be a part of wether it be auditioning for the Nutcracker or taking weekly classes. For the pre-professional classes, the training I received at PVB has prepared me for all ballet styles and types of dance I’ve continued onto.
Pioneer Valley Ballet is amazing. They work closely with every student and manage to focus on skills, in that classical ballet way, without losing touch with the basic fun of dancing. Really incredible teachers, year after year, and great performance opportunities. Couldn’t be happier!
The nutcracker has always been my favorite ballet. It holds a special place in my heart. I was in it several years; and was blessed to have my daughter in it for the first time this year. However it’s not what it use to be. I can never forgive or forget how it has been destroyed over the years. When we should be celebrating different cultures, they have taken out all those amazing numbers. The Chinese dancing out from the dragon. The Arabian dancers. Dancers from Spain. The Little dancer coming out from mother gingers shirt. And do much more. It was all those numbers that made the show so great. Even the party scene has lost its touch. Where’s the clock that starts going wonky? It’s changed so much, and I’m not sure it’s for the better.
