When my son was younger they were very accepting he was a neighborhood child they helped him grow his game those coaches are gone however my son has continued that legacy
Awesome tennis club. Non-profit, African American-run, a lot of initiatives to help the kids in the surrounding community. I've never belonged to a tennis club in my life until now but wasn't interested in joining any others in the city. Sportsmen's is special because of their mission and their integration into the community. Good vibes, good people, a good cause, good facility, good price. Not much more you can ask for.
My child attended the summer camp this year and since she has started she has been coming home telling me a boy has pushed her, kicked her in the stomach, teased, etc. And Ms.Nadine , Ms. Toni , the counselors have completely let my child and I down when it came to safety. So when it comes to summer camps I do not recommend this place.
This place is free to the community. As in free gym and free use of the tennis court, etc. They also have other events onsite where the community is educated on certain subjects and allowed to participate in a discussion. In my opinion, this place should get nothing less than 5 stars because it's free. How can anything free be rated less than perfect?
The tennis coaches are world class. The lessons and practices are catered to my needs and do not feel like we're mindlessly drilling. The teams are so much fun. The members are kind and the environment is always jovial and friendly. They do it all here and I stand behind their mission. I always enjoy my time here.
My son attends the after school program here, and he loves it. I love it too, the caring staff, the nice facilities (I know it doesn't look impressive at the parking lot or front door, but don't let that discourage you), and a very well run program. My son is picked up every day from school and taken to the tennis club, he does his homework (with support if needed) eats a snack, and plays tennis (indoor and outdoor). They also have board games, books, movies on Fridays) and have guest lecturers sometimes. There are computers where kids can play educational and fun computer games, and in addition, they have a free gym for parents so they can work out before picking up their kid! I am so impressed with this place, and are trying to attend more things here with my children on the weekends.
I picked up my daughter from this tennis program for the first time today and I'm really glad I did. What I was expecting was just kids playing tennis however I was surprised to discover this is much much more than I had expected. Coach Frank is not just a Tennis Coach. He is a motivational speaker with an entrepreneur mindset and a superb mentor to the kid's he coaches and an amazing human being. I felt as though I was intruding when I came down to the court area but Coach Frank made me apart of the experience which was so cool. He even had a prominent guest speaker in the ambulatory industry! All the staff is phenomenal and really care about the kids as if they're their own, even the receptionist, it's amazing. I am so glad my daughter is participating in this program, I'm confident she's going to be better person just because of this program. If you're on the fence about signing up your child for this program don't wait, you won't regret it. If I could give 10 stars I would without question. Thank you Coach Frank and all the amazing staff at Sportsmen's Tennis for the incredible work you do!
