In the last month, the gym has decided to charge double what they normally do for anyone who takes yoga classes in the yoga studio here. (Which used to be included in your membership of $37 a month) now it is $67 a month. Apparently they took 3 of the yoga classes and moved them to the group x studio (and didn’t mention this when you upgrade) which is not relaxing in the slightest and has glass windows everyone can look in, while you can hear people slamming weights outside the room. Oh and the AC blasting. These classes used to be in the yoga studio and are meant to be relaxing, quiet and zen. So now I pay double to have some of my favorite yoga classes not even in the yoga studio anymore ????? Absolutely ridiculous and greedy company. They don’t care what members have to say.
Thankful for a caring staff who went above and beyond for me. I thought the zumba was full and was so bummed. The team member went to double-check. She found me in the ladies' locker room to tell me there's space!!
Choice Fitness is a very good gym. The management and staff go above and beyond to assist with any questions and are very considerate. They consistently welcome everyone in a pleasant and professional manner. The facility boasts a wide variety of training equipment to support diverse workout plans.
Earlier today, I went to Choice Fitness Chelmsford to discuss their recent changes in membership offerings. My daughter signed a year-long contract only 3 months ago, then received an email earlier this month saying that some of the benefits would be removed, and would not be grandfathered-in to the end of the contract. To have the same benefits as at the time of signing, they would require nearly double the monthly membership fees. At first, the Assistant Manager (Garrett Edgecomb) claimed it was in the contract that they could change the offerings at will. They then read the contract, admitted that it was not in the contract, but maintained that it was policy and was not going to change. I then asked to speak to the General Manager (Phillip Nunez), who, with an already disgruntled attitude, told me I could either upgrade the membership, cancel, or leave the premises. Upon saying that I'd like to exercise my right to complain about these issues, he told me I could leave or he would call someone to escort me out. He then went into his office, and brought his phone to me with the CEO (Jason Ruggiero) on the line, who parroted off the same information, claiming that the email notice of these changes makes it appropriate. I explained that the right thing to do would be to maintain the same terms until the end of the contract. He said that he couldn't do anything because if they did that they'd have to do it for everyone. All 3 people I spoke to in this situation were utterly unempathetic to our position as a consumer. I would not recommend working with this gym in the future, as apparently they can and will change the terms of your contract however and in any way they please.
Member for over 10 years on and off. Can you guys fix the sauna? I see an abundance of merch being produced and the membership price keeps trickling up a dollar or two. The sauna has been broken since 12/26 a repair like that should be in the budget. If you need to call a repair man lmk I can give you a referral.
Choice Fitness has absolutely horrible business practices. I joined in October 2024 and signed a year long contract for the Platinum membership with yoga classes included. Beginning of February I received an email that yoga classes would no longer be included in my membership and my only options were to cancel for a $100 fee, or upgrade to the next membership tier which is DOUBLE what I’m currently paying. I had to come in person to cancel my membership. I complained and got my $100 cancellation fee waived, but that doesn’t change the fact that I’m now without the gym membership that I was counting on having for a year. They didn’t even attempt to make a deal with me to keep my membership. I really liked the yoga classes and they became part of my routine, now I have to start over with a new gym and switch up my schedule to make their classes work. I called my old gym to rejoin and they said they would NEVER change my membership benefits in the middle of the contract.
They have tons of classes, lots of great equipment, and plenty of open space for free-form exercise. The sauna and hot yoga are not as hot as I like, but they're still good. Plenty of parking. Apparently, you can even get smoothies made, too. I'm just using the free week while I'm in town, but I would certainly get a membership here if I lived in the area.
Updated October 2021: We've been coming here for 5 months and we have no complaints. All of the staff, manager, and trainers (Phil, Jim, Liam, Stephanie) are friendly and encouraging. We enjoy coming in straight away when they open in the morning. Excited to see the upgrades once the extension next door is open with spin studio and hot yoga studio. Honestly surprised at all the hate people have for Phil. He's nothing but nice to us, and I'm a minority female. Then again, I'm always kind and respectful and not condescending to everyone. So maybe the people who feel entitled should tone it down? Just a thought 🤷🏽♀️ We used to have a home gym but upon moving had to join a gym. The staff is super friendly and gym members are kind and encouraging. Even with the limited number of people allowed in classes (Covid restrictions), there are still plenty of options. There are also virtual classes and personal training options. Looking forward to have the onsite sitting back so the whole family can go at once. My 13 year old and I enjoy all the classes- yoga, barre, kickboxing, spinning. So many to choose from! I was surprised to see all the negative reviews. Everyone here is so nice and helpful, including the manager who we worked with us to get our memberships. There is plenty of equipment and members and trainers are very accommodating. I know there are gyms who are comparable with what they offer and the cost is higher. Awesome that the gym opens at 0430 during the weekdays and 0700 on the weekends. If you like to train on your own, train with a professional, or do group exercise, this gym is perfect. Now if they bring back the babysitting (kids choice), the whole situation will be perfect 🥰😋
