Andrew P. Puopolo. Junior Athletic Field, 475 Commercial St, Boston, MA 02109, United States
Been coming here since I was younger than my niece, who is now 11. Best public pool in Boston, feels like home.
We showed up hoping to go for a swim as it was very hot out but when we arrived we discovered that it was shut down. The entrance and the building was run down and overgrown and the actual pools were completely empty and had no water. We checked again online and it said it was open and functional which it clearly isn’t. I don’t know if it’s a temporary closure or a permanent one but they need to update their website/google page to avoid people showing up and being disappointed.
It’s a nice non-crowded pool, but the only problem is there’s one particular lifeguards that likes to flirt with the under age females that come here so be aware.
I love Mirabella, i wish Boston had more outdoor pools like this one. Hours have reduced after Covid but you can still get a good swim session in by registering and signing up on the BYCF website. Bring chairs if you need- the area where you lounge is concrete. There is a deep pool and a longer lap pool with shallower depths. Lifeguards on duty and the bathrooms have sufficient space for changing/washing. A gem of a city pool! Skyline views and a breeze off the harbor make it so special here!
3 years ago or so this pool used to be very enjoyable. Now they make you pay 45 dollars and 75 dollars for families every time you go here. Last year they only let us swim at the pool for an hour (due to covid) like how are you gonna make us swim for 1 hour. But nice view and nice breeze.
Just started a new season of the pool being open and went there for my first time. Only the main pool (~3-5 ft deep; Olympic sized) was open, but the former dive well was filled and I hope they’ll open it later into the summer. Free this year, but you have to sign up for a 1h45 time slot through BCYF 24 hours in advance. Beautiful view, wasn’t too crowded, great place.
Nice pool and location. Great hours. Lifeguard that was on duty this morning 7:00am, 7/10/2018 got the manager to tell me I should not use half the lane, without first asking why I was stopping which I was doing so(stopping) to be able to catch my breath. I felt I was singled out and embarrassed to be talked down to in front everyone. Manager and lifeguard on duty today(7:00am) both rude and no customer service skills at all.
Nice enough community pool with a beautiful view of the harbor, Old Iron Sides and the Bunk Hill Monument. Plenty of sun and shade. The price for a season is quite reasonable and the pizza at the snack shop is made fresh from scratch. Important notes: The pool sells seasonal membership only. No single day passes. Also: YOU CAN ONLY PAY BY MONEY ORDER! No cash, checks or cards!
