American pub grub & specialty ales served in a 2-story space featuring a game room & trivia nights.
Looking for a casual restaurant and bar with consistently good food and great service? Check out Hangar pub. My personal faves? The wings, tater tots, onion rings, and the amazing pretzel bites!
This place does plenty of business and I'm sure this review won't hurt them by any means not that I'm intending it to of course. Upon walking in the two hostesses didn't bother greeting me. The place was jam-packed which is clearly a plus for this establishment. Wait staff was friendly enough and the food came out super prompt. After that no one came to check on me. Typically it's a standard for a waiter or waitress to at least come by to see if you need anything else. The food was good but I waited an excessive amount of time for someone to acknowledge me that I wanted my check. Upon walking out the same hostesses did not acknowledge me. What's the point of having hostesses at all?
Amazing food can be found here! The boneless chicken is to die for. Highly recommend the teriyaki sauce-its a family favorite! Cool mixed drinks that are seasonal (such as the Lucky Charm) and a funky menu that you can't go wrong with.
The service was great. Great wait staff. Basic Pub food and beer. The pool tables need work. Especially the Q ball. It goes down the wrong track after a scratch and you have to get staff to get the ball. No chalk either.
Service was good despite being busy on Super Bowl Sunday. Atmosphere was social but not chaotic. I had a craving for their chicken wings. The afterburner wings were quite spicy (as advertised) and paired very well with the mango habanero wings, and blue cheese. Been coming here for decades and it's always good.
The quality of the food, specifically the chicken wings, is not high. However, the prices are relatively low, and the atmosphere is average.
Hangar Pub and Grill is a Sports Bar & Restaurant located near the UMass Amherst campus. I've never stepped inside the restaurant as I've only ordered take-out, so I can't really speak on the atmosphere or the service. As for take-out, I typically use the standard food delivery apps. Something weird I encountered was that even though the restaurant is open and serving people, the food delivery is down and has wildly inconsistent hours. Seems odd, but doesn't really bother me. The food is good. For the price it may be a bit overpriced, but it's understandable. I typically get the garlic parm, which has a nice dusting and great taste that is hard to replicate. The chicken can tend to be overfried a bit, but overall is still pretty good. Overall, a decent spot to get wings near the campus.
Never will I need step inside this place again. Cool bar though, dark, somewhat seedy, giant bar-top, good menu, cary out beer, video games, strange locals. Service was fast and friendly. Bartender said they were known for their wings so I rolled with it. Wings were not good. I think they were frozen. Tasted like those Tyson ones that are flash frozen in the bag. Price reflected this, cheap. Too many sauces and rubs. Maybe not that bad, but they were in between Dominos and Pappa Johns level. Waffle fries and boneless chicken were good. I might be persuaded to return on a UMASS game-day cause they had tons of beers. But doubt it. Parking is limited and I couldn’t get s wifi signal inside.
