Puffer's Pond Swimming Area in Amherst

This used to be a great place to swim, but in the last few years, it is always failing the bacterial test and considered unsafe. You can get the test results by seaching for "puffer pond amherst" and clicking the result on the town of Amherst web site.

I've been going since I was a child. It's beautiful.

A true gem, hard to believe how wonderful this place is. Never crowded, always beautiful, great for kids and swimmers. Waterfall, rope swing, multiple beaches, what more could you want? Water can be cold, but perfect on a hot day.

Peaceful. But im not a pond person so i just watched the nature around me n dipped my feet. Pretty.

I grew up in the area and had kind of dismissed puffers as kind of funky... I was wrong. My kids loved playing in the shallow water. The beach was clean as well as the water and it wasn’t too crowded on a weekday

I can take a nice long swim around the pond here without worrying about fees or lifeguards.
