My family’s experience here has been good. If We needed to go back to another place to get help We would choose to come back here.
The staff were wonderful. The food was so bad to be inedible. My husband lost 40 lbs in 6 weeks. They do not have enough staff and resources to do their jobs to the best of their ability.
If you have a loved one staying here for rehab please keep an eye on everything involving their care! The physical therapist does a great job and there are a couple nice people on staff and that is the only reason for the second star. The rest of the facility leaves a lot to be desired. The room they put my Dad in is dirty, chipping paint everywhere, beat up furniture, and rusted baseboard heating covers that are not even on correctly being held in place with screws. The bathroom in his room is extremely dated, not big enough for a wheelchair, and the toilet is not set up well for the handicapped. There is no way he can use the bathroom with his wheelchair and the staff takes too long to get to him most of the time to assist and then they wonder why they have to clean him up from an accident blaming it on meds and diarrhea and not that they took too long to get to him. Not only is the food not good at all to begin with being served stone cold, they seem to ignore that there is an allergy and just give people whatever there is without thought. There are no options and no choices, you just get handed a tray and whatever it is it is. On top of that my Dad needs adaptive silverware due to stroke and although I told several people he needed it, it was ignored for four days until they finally got him the silverware so he can eat today. Therefore he was in the facility for four days before he was able to have the tools he needed to eat with. My sister has resorted to ordering dinner via doordash for him so that he will actually get at least one meal a day he can eat that will be hot. The small closet of a room that has the sink for water and refrigerator, where they store drinks and food, was also dirty when I went and got water for my Dad. So yeah... I know the nursing home situation is bad everywhere and this place is no exception! Dirty, bad food, short staffed, staff that hangs up on you when you call and sometimes doesn't even answer the phone at all. If you or your loved one needs to be at this facility you NEED to keep on them constantly and be that squeaky wheel over seeing everything or else things will not get done as they should and your loved one will suffer. Side note, my dad was at this location previously and it wasn't as bad last September. In September the food was at least ok for the most part and the staff was more careful with allergies and more attentive with care, that is not the case now. *for some reason I can not reply to the response just posted. Please reply with an email address where I can send more detailed information in relation to these concerns. I do not wish to post dates, times, and specific details concerning my dad's care publicly. Thank you.
Absolutely horrible place. My mother was there less than a week and decided she’d be better taken care of at the hospital than here. She left in worse condition than when she arrived. Do not send your family members here unless you hate them. Staffed like a food court Burger King.
Hello to all that will see and read up on this rehabilitation facility my sister had a total knee replacement was place in a room with a woman who was positive for influenza A and B who yelled out all hours of the night and stole my sisters bags and some of her belongings and since when do we place the non sick in a room with someone contagious that can cause more health harm and the staff well haha did nothing for days and left my sister to do her own transfers and didn’t answer the call bells and lights for most of time about a hour or more and my sister has had 2 falls. very neglectful when it comes to care of these people who are someone’s loved ones. I’m a CNA of 30 years and worked at heritage back 12 years ago so save your reach out information that you will post as a response to my message and watch your cameras. your staff was standing all over the halls talking from the time I entered to the time I left in the same spots doing the same thing talking all while the whole hallway was lit like a christmas of people ringing.. If you look on your camera I was there 1/13 from 2:20 to 3:45 and you will see what you staff doesn’t do.. I had to extend my sisters bed cause a nurse was hung over from a holiday party the night before and wasn’t strong enough I also had to toilet my sister and reposition her back in bed with her leg elevated and ice packed cause her edema was a plus 3 and her call light was ringing for over a hour.. I do not recommend this place for anyone’s loved ones
I live in Florida and this morning I received a call from my friend who resides there. She was in tears because things have gone from bad to worse, from the housekeeping, to almost a lack of food, portions so small that a child would be hungry after and to top it on her designated shower day she was told that she couldn’t have one because wasn’t any clean towels, maybe if they were done by afternoon and if they had time she might get one in the afternoon! If you call this good care then you must be deliberately stupid! If things do not improve quickly then perhaps the state and/or federal government should be invited to tour the facility.
My mother lived at Heritage Hall South for 1 1/2 years before passing away on 12/25/19. She struggled with severe dementia. I cannot say enough how great the whole staff was. They were very loving and compassionate with Mom and very supportive with me. She really enjoyed the meals and the activities (bingo, daily chronicle concerts). I will forever be grateful.
I have been here for several months because I had to have my left foot amputated. I have made many friends here, but my goal is to go home and back to work. The staff on therapy are excellent working with me to get me ready for my new leg. Activities I have spent many hours of fun activities, bingo, movies and even worship. I been to gospel, catholic and protestant services. The food here is great Don the chef and Kathy from the dining room. If you or someone you love needs this type of place I would recommend that you come to Heritage Hall South. I will come back to visit, too many friends who I am going to miss.
